Swoosh Update: Our Progress
Added 2020-02-26 14:56:34 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
We wanted to have a frank and honest conversation with you about the progress of Swoosh.
We have done everything in our power to make it clear that we are aiming to release Swoosh as soon as possible - we really hoped that it would be February, but due to another series of setbacks our early access release date is now looking like March.
It's understandable that you would like an exact date, but this isn't something that we have been able to provide. We don't want to make promises that we can't keep - we are already feeling regretful that we have mentioned any specific months in the past as we really don't want to let anyone down.
You may be wondering, why is it taking so long? We feel that our supporters here on Patreon deserve an explanation. There are three main factors involved:
- We needed to upgrade our hardware in order to run Swoosh, and we ended up having to wait weeks for everything to arrive due to the situation in China. The factories that make the equipment we needed are located in Wuhan, and nothing was allowed to travel in or out for quite a while. We simply couldn't work on certain key aspects of Swoosh until we had the right equipment, but we're happy to say that we have now received it!
- Nintendo have recently released a number of updates, such as the Expansion Pass and Pokemon Home. We didn't want to release a half-working product to you guys - we felt that it wouldn't be fair. You are supporting us while we work on Swoosh, and you deserve a high-quality product. Making Swoosh compatible with these updates took time, which is what initially delayed our January release.
- It has been so difficult to make this app work, much more difficult than Creatorpi was. It is a bigger and more complex project than we had ever anticipated! We have one main developer and one back-end developer - together they can work magic, but they can't work as fast as a large team of developers. Right now we can't afford to hire any additional people, but we hope to be able to expand our team in the future.
We're sure that we don't need to say this to most of you, as we have received so many kind messages recently, but we want to make it clear that we are not intentionally dragging our heels on this release. We are working day and night to get Swoosh completed and ready to go - we are probably more anxious and impatient for the release than you are!
But we know it will be worth it in the end, and that you will all love Swoosh just as much as we do.
We are being as upfront and honest about this as possible, and we hope that you can understand. As we mentioned in a previous post, we completely understand if you no longer want to support us - but we do hope that you choose to stick around!
Every single one of you is appreciated immensely by us. We are so grateful that you have chosen to support us and we are working hard to provide you with the app that you deserve.
Thank you so much for being patient with us! Swoosh is coming, and we promise that you'll be blown away.
