HT! Sketches: Book II (59, 60, 61, 62, 63)

Page 59, with Sans standing apprehensively at the entrance of the lab, draft vs final. The dialogue used to include Flowey assuring Aliza that Sans will never return for his eye, but the story shifted to Papyrus' viewpoints instead. I realize in the page itself, Sans' eyes aren't colored correctly! This is how they were meant to look.

So this is a big one. In page 61, after Aliza refuses to take the eye for herself, Flowey was simply going to lift the glass himself and take the eye instead. But this cornered me into a terrible plothole; what's stopping Flowey from taking the eye from the very beginning? So I scraped this panel and instead drew all of Page 60, showcasing Aliza wearing a power-necklace in order to lift the glass and access the eye in the first place.
From page 62, a draft of a Royal Guard menacing Papyrus. Originally The guard was never going to interfere between Papyrus and Undyne; Undyne would have said most of the guard's line herself before attacking Papyrus with her spear. But Undyne is not alone with her feelings of betrayal, and I wanted that expressed by another powerful character.
A quick draft of Undyne and Papyrus' battle, page 63. Whether or not he's truly injured is left ambiguous.

The head on shot of flowey is definitely more haunting than the profile, I'm really happy that we can sort of see his frustration better. And the guard speaking up goes to show how it wasn't just the snowdin monsters counting on the support from Papyrus and them, and that's heartbreaking to think about.
