There is a reason that this is considered one of the best films ever made, and 2nd only to To Kill A Mockingbird among legal dramas. It was also made during the McCarthy era in the 1950s, when Senator Joe McCarthy and his anti-Communist witch hunt was terrorizing the country. The way that the film uses logic and reason to defeat bias and the preconceived notions held by so many of the jurors is a direct reflection of the efforts to remind Americans to avoid giving in to the fear and prejudice promoted to vilify anyone who opposed the tactics employed by McCarthy. Along the same lines, you should REALLY watch Good Night, and Good Luck (the original with David Straithairn as Edward R. Murrow.
This film, unfortunately, shows exactly what is happening in the United States now, except the government is the one trying to convince everyone that facts are a waste of time and bias is perfectly acceptable.
