May 2025 Development Update

Hello again! Time flies, doesn't it? It feels like it was just yesterday that the first build was getting pushed out the door, and now we've already got the second one in beta. When I originally estimated 2-3 months per build, it was always a bit of a guess. As you've probably noticed, UNDER | HEAVEN is pretty art-heavy and that means a lot of individual pieces that can potentially get delayed and push the whole build back. But, I'm pretty happy to report that we've managed just over two months to get chapter 2 in beta!
Chapter 2 will still face a bit more bugfixing and polish before it goes fully live, but elsewhere in the production pipeline we're already getting things moving for chapter 3. Compared to 1 and 2, 3 is a bit light in terms of number of art pieces so we're feeling pretty good about getting it out in a timely fashion. That said, I'll be moving within the next two months which can always throw a bit of a wrench in things. Looking to the much longer term, there's still some possibility of a pause at the end of part one, but we're working to ensure that doesn't happen.
Otherwise, there's not too much to report this time around. As always, we're extremely grateful if you can leave a review on itch, back the project on patreon, or just help spread the word. We're early enough on that I'd say the project is still working to find its audience, but I'm very optimistic about what the future holds.
Last, but not least, there will be a few additional patreon updates dropping around the end of beta: besides the full-resolution assets for chapter 2, we've got a behind the scenes article on the design of Julian's character. You can see a sneak preview of some of the clothing ideas we went through above! Figuring out his outfit was probably the hardest part, honestly, but there were some other very interesting variations for you to look forward to. But, anyway, that's all for now.
