The moment the gods found out what Machaon did, pheobe sent Athena to properly care for the princess though, so really their only mistake was was letting it happen in the first case but due to the situations unique circumstances it wouldve been hard to see Machaon do something like this

What was his plan upon reaching godhood? Congrats you're a God the planet no longer is even a lesser spring and you can't travel from the planet yet but the other gods don't mind? Phoebe was going to murder him regardless if he became a God. And the gods in general... There is one. One! Resource on the planet that makes it worthwhile and it gets corrupted under your nose? I don't care even about kidnapping, what if the princess got some sort of magical sickness. The gods should have visited almost daily regardless of humanity interference. Remoir is absolutely filled with incompetent leaders. I have no good will towards any of the elders on the planet even slightly. Even Metatron is better because even though he experiments on large sections of the planet he at least ensures it'll survive. Not sure how much lower my opinion of the God's can get.

I’m not certain because I don’t think anything has been stated concretely on sleep in particular, but we know even gods need to drink water and breathe as much as any red. They just acquire water and air mana and then pull it from their inner world. I can’t see why it would be any different for food and sleep. So even a white like Machaon probably needs to sleep as much as anyone else
