Release date and other news

Hello,

I have some news for you guys. The release of Inner Growth v1.1 will be in the first week of September. I have a friend who is helping me with the programming, but he's going 3 weeks on vacation in August. And I can't possibly finish the update in the next two weeks.

But I won't just sit idly around and wait longingly for his return. :D
I have to fix some things with our current build. I forgot to set some variables in previous decisions. And yeah, that's bad. That means you guys need to play through the whole game again, otherwise it will just set these new variables with the input for a canon playthrough.
Well, I sure hope so. Didn't really test it, yet. Still busy producing new content. :<

Okay, I think that's all for now.
Have a great day!

Cheers,
Morally Purple

Gotcha. Yeah, if you intend a major rework then the quiz approach is insufficient. RenPy tends to break savegames in that kind of situation too, so you might consider providing default savegames starting at v1.1 that supporters can use if they don't want to the replay. If there are going to be long-term effects then I'd probably take the time to do the replay, particularly if there's an updated walkthrough. Regardless, thanks for your efforts on the game! And for being willing to engage with your players.

Hello, thank you for your input. Some of our fans pointed that out as well. That I could add something like a short quiz at the beginning of v1.1. Here's the problem, at first I thought, yeah, let's do that. But I always wanted to rework the point system, that would nearly affect every decision you made so far. And now I want to do that together with this change. So I would cause this kind of inconvenience only once, and not on multiple occasions. I'm sorry that you guys need to play through the whole game again, but this will benefit the game in the long run. Thank you for your support, by the way. :) Cheers, Morally Purple

In case you haven't considered it, there are alternatives to forcing a replay. You could prompt the player with some extra dialog asking what they did in those past scenes so you can set the missing variables. It should even be possible to trigger those questions only on saves which were created prior to v1.1 so they don't bother newer players. I've played around with RenPy a bit, and think I could figure out how to do that if it would help. I'm a new patron, and I really like the game, but don't want to have to play it all over again unnecessarily.
