Something I doodled about off an old idea. A monster from the Dungeons of the Jobslime setting.
FALSE TROPHY Threat level: Nuisance
Once the deadliest weapon of a powerfull Dungeon Master, these mindless monsters now pose little more than a random annoyance to adventurers delving the depths. They are non-lethal,and inflict no lasting harm on cursed individuals.
Once, A False Trophy would hijack the mind of the cursed, leaving them utterly under the will of the "Gamesman", a now defeated Dungeon Master who used them to line his halls with puppeted adventurers, aware but unable to disobey their call. Now, they remain scattered throughout the levels of the Dungeon that resemble dwellings, and pose little threat beyond embarassmentat being caught by one.
The beast mounted on the plaque is not real, and could resemble any "Game" that could fit upon the plaque. Said plaque is always the exact same, which makes them easy to recognise so long as one looks up.
2nd Half text
As of now, the curse merely replaces the victims head with that of the beast and nothing else. However, their mind is still open to those who know of the Gamesman's magic, which thankfully has not been seen since their defeat. A simple cursebreaking spell allows the False Trophy to be slid off harmlessly and stored somewhere safe.
Should the worst happen, a victim would be utterly under the thrall of the "Gamesman". Unable to disobey any verbal order, including backstabbing their own party. In some cases, it's reported that adventurers who had been cursed with a False Trophy for years could be fully converted into mindless beastmen by some unknown means.
