The Most Fashionable Faction - The 2016 Demo!

Should I share this? Probably not.

Remember in that last post? When I said I'd had this song written for YEARS? Well this year wasn't my first attempt at making it happen. Way back in 2016 I decided to try recording it. The lyrics were already old by this point, having written them some time around 2013 but in 2016, when I decided I wanted to try my hand at properly doing Nerdcore for myself, I dusted them off and had a go!

So what you have here is a very early demo for my TF2 song. It didn't have a name at the time, it didn't even have a chorus. Just a long chain of verses.
The old beat was slower, less funky.  It was recorded on a poor quality mic and is presented entirely unmixed as it was left in 2016 when I decided the project was too ambitious at the time. The vocals are only test ones, I'm fairly certain some of them were recorded quietly to avoid waking people in my shared house. (I'm looking at you, Soldier.)

My goal when writing the song was to make each verse sound like it was written by the merc performing it, I hope that comes across in the final song. Soldier's lyrics in particular are bad by intention! I don't think he'd be a great lyricist.

Here you'll hear my original, unpolished lyrics. I revisited and tidied up most of the lyrics for the new version. Most of it was just streamlining them and making sure they fit to the new, much faster beat but certain characters had more extensive re-writes.

Engineer got rewritten because, well frankly the originals were pretty clumsy. I tried to write fast rap for him, badly. So bad fast rap suddenly needing to be made even faster wasn't gonna work. The new Engineer verse actually ended up being one of my favourites.
Medic got a rewrite because I'd already cheekily stolen a lot of his original verse to be re-purposed into lyrics for my Surgeon Simulator song a short while ago!

The voices are rough and unrehearsed, (you'll see why I opted to cast Harry as the Heavy and the Soldier!) and it all sounds very amateur but I think it's an interesting look at some proto-Stupendium history! I hope you all enjoy this little glance at what may have been my first ever attempt at recording rap!

Also, why does your soldier sound like Richard Nixon? I can't un hear it.

The talent is there but I'm definitely glad you gave it a funkier beat.
