Added 2021-02-28 01:08:56 +0000 UTCIt's no secret that I'm a big fan of the Hitman series so with the finale in the current trilogy releasing this year I knew I had to do a song for it! I wanted to try and do something distinct from The Second, my Hitman 2 song for this one. Where The Second focuses on the myth of 47, his methods and those final seconds before he takes you out, The Apex is a song about the wider narrative of the World of Assassination trilogy, the shadowy organisation you are fighting and the climax of the events being built towards over the three games. The title, 'The Apex', being both a reference to Agent 47 himself, the apex predator and to the culmination of the series' various story threads leading to the game's finale.
I wanted a bigger, more epic cinematic feel for the piece and I'm super happy with how it turned out. And of course, the incredible Nem really brought the fire. He took my pitch of 'Rap as a guy who's confident he's safe but then totally isn't' and ran with it PLUS was totally cool with me digitally shooting him in the head.

Wow, this track is one of the best ones you've made. I've listened to it so often that it's now the first suggestion when I type in youtube, wish I was joking. Also, the editing of the video is spot on, and shows how much your skill improved compared to earlier videos.
