2025-03-28 12:59:57 +0000 UTCShawn Spears telling Ricky he's made "a long line of enemies" and "burning bridges" was a reference to his departure with AEW. There was division in the locker room stemming from the Punk drama where one side was Anti-Punk and the other Pro-Punk. Ricky was not-so-subtly Pro-Punk. He also made it fairly clear that he was going to WWE (given his close friendships with Cody, Punk, Bayley & Jade) as soon as his AEW contract expired which is why Tony refused to feature him into programming for a year. Tony's mentality being "why invest in talent we know are dead-set on leaving or not willing to put our current roster over" which he also felt about guys like Penta's brother Fenix, Malakai and Miro (all of whom we'll see in WWE soon than later). Frustrated with not being used while under contract, Ricky would make it known how he felt whenever he got interviewed and asked about why he wasn't being featured.
