After approximately 3.14 million years, it's finally time - Crisis Point: Extinction v0.48 has officially been released for patrons!
You can watch the trailer above for the main highlights, though the NSFW stuff has to be censored due to this being a public post. For those of you who prefer reading, here's a list of all the major things added and changed in this update:
Crisis Point: Extinction v0.48 Major Changes and Features
-First half of story rewrite has been implemented, including a brand new intro and several improved/reworked cutscenes
-Hoverjets upgrade has been reworked for more dynamic movement in the lategame
-Playthrough Stats menu has been added; only a few things tracked for now, but more will be added as development continues
-Translation/localization support has been added; for the time being, only English is available officially, but the game now supports custom translations so the community can easily make their own
-New duo BJ CG added, starring Lucas, Verreda, and Alicia
-Support for multiple save files has been added, including an autosave slot so manual saves will never be automatically overwritten anymore
-Save file filesize was dramatically reduced
-Improved gameplay animations for several enemies
-Warped Soldiers now have a melee attack to prevent the player from running past them as easily
-Damage numbers were added to combat (can be toggled off if you prefer)
-Community Recolor Poll winners added to Alicia color palettes
-Speaker names were added to all dialogue boxes
-Debug mode (unlocked at the end of the demo) will now be saved to your save file for the duration of this major update (as in, it will apply to v0.48 and all of its hotfixes, but debug will be removed when you load the save in v0.49, after that comes out)
A few of the features listed above aren't really "major". Normally we do a list of smaller changes at the end of the post, but like v0.47 before it, v0.48 was in development for so long - and my mental health during its development was, if you'll pardon my french, fucked - that I didn't keep a very thorough record of the smaller things. Because of that we'll be skipping that list, just know that there's definitely a bunch of small stuff I've forgotten about too - but all the major stuff is listed up above!
As for our NEXT update, v0.49, I'm not going to do a definitive list like I usually do, but here's some of our general plans for it:
-Finish story rework, hopefully start implementing completely new story and areas
-Reworked Alraune and Poison Alraune enemies to have more interesting combat behaviors
-Unlockable achievements
-Updated ingame HUD
-Visible blaster stats in menu (a rating of how much damage your blaster deals, how fast it is, etc)
Things may change as development progresses, but those are the major plans right now. The rest of the story rework is still pretty significant; a good chunk of the work is already done or is being done, but I haven't been able to get in contact with Kara's voice actress, and she's heavily involved in the remainder of the story changes. We're going to have to recast her role unfortunately, and I didn't want to rush that process by trying to squeeze all of it in for this update, so the #1 priority for v0.49 is seeing the story rework finished so we can FINALLY be in a good position to work on brand new content. I'm hoping we can get to some brand new stuff as part of v0.49 too, but we'll see what happens.
In any case, I think that's enough rambling for me for today, I gotta get this post finished so everyone can start playing!
As always, the download link for v0.48 will be in a Patron-only post right after this one, and I'll also be sending the link in a DM to everyone who pledged at the $10+ tier at least once since the last update came out - so if you pledged at the $10 or $30 tier even once since April 2024, you should be getting the download link for the update even if you're no longer pledged. It might take a little bit to send out those posts, but if you haven't received it by tomorrow and you think you should've, please message me so I can double check!
Before ending the post, an ENORMOUS shoutout to every single one of you who showed our team so much grace and patience while we figured stuff out. The past few years haven't been great for CPE, but we're still here plugging away, and that's gotta count for something! Even bigger thank yous and hugs go out to our top patrons for this update's dev cycle:

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy finally playing v0.48 of Crisis Point: Extinction!
