Anniversary

William started a tradition years ago of drawing the 2 of us as a couple of characters for our anniversary, which is on Halloween. I decided to give it a go myself this year, our 10th anniversary. We’ve watched all the Tron movies/shows recently and discussed thoroughly our love of the 1982 original, so I decided to draw us as characters from that: William as Tron, and myself as Dumont. I love Dumont because he’s the most Moebius looking character in a movie of Moebius designed characters.

In the past years, William has drawn us as Morticia and Gomez, Glass and the Sentinel, Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and my favorite -Chucky and Tiffany. I am running a risk this year with this as I don’t know what he’s going to draw. It may very well be from Tron, too, since it’s been so relevant.

I don’t think I have mentioned here that one of my first jobs was in the local movie theater, from 1981-1982. That was a very good period for genre movies, and I saw a lot of them repeatedly because I could. Tron was one of them. The cabinet video game had been out for months beforehand, it was a fun game at the time and great synergy for the film. It’s still surprising to me that it wasn’t considered a success… I saw it so many times, as did everyone I knew.
