End of an era / a fond farewell

Well, my friends, I’ve had plenty of time to think over the past couple of weeks and after a great deal of consideration, I’m going to be stopping my work here on Patreon.

This page will remain here as an archive for those who still want to access the thousands of posts and all the comics, but I won’t be creating new content specifically for this (once I’ve finished the current comic issue!)

It’s been a wild ride over the last seven years of doing this full time. It’s a sad day for me as I’ve put my heart and soul into this madness but even I, the most stubbornly determined person you’re likely to meet, can’t continue overlooking some hard truths. I never “made it big” nor built up enough income to live with some degree of comfort and security. I need to earn at least as much as teens stacking shelves at the supermarket.

I never would have made it this far without your incredible support and I’ll always be grateful to you all. To my biggest supporters, the “Boys from the Dwarf,” I can never thank you enough. I’ll chat with you all on Discord instead of going too deeply here.

To our fantastic Discord community, the denizens of The Devil’s Due Bar & Grill, we’ve certainly been through a lot over the years! I won’t mention names but we got to see somebody’s relationship start and progress to marriage, someone write a novel from beginning to end and, unfortunately, a fair bit of drama caused by somebody who’ll definitely remain nameless. The Devil’s Due will remain open because who else would have us?

Looking to the future, I’ll be doing commission work while I hunt for a more mainstream job. Hit me up for details. Existing patrons will get themselves a discount as my way of saying thank you.

So, yeah, heavy heart as I’m writing all this out but it’s time to move on. This has been an incredible experience and I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process. I’ve certainly never worked this hard, had this level of highs and lows or thought I could live the life of an independent illustrator.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything over the years.

Commissions will be available until I start the next chapter of my career. Message me here, discord or DeviantArt to discuss!

It's truly the end of an era. We've lost a several legends here: Laptop123, Art of Venus has moved to SubscribeStar, Linart just disappeared, and now one of my favorite artists. It's never a good feeling to admit when something you love isn't working out, being willing to admit it and accepting it's time to move on takes courage. Their is no shame in this, you have a family to take care of and friends that need you. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that even as you move on, it does not mean you have to give up on drawing forever. Instead, remember the massive archive of work you have created, almost a decade of art, stories, characters, and good times for countless fans and friends alike.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's always a shame when your ambitions never seem to come to fruition, but I do hope that things go better for you in the future. I'll definitely have to see about commissioning you as well, it's the least I can do to help. All the best!
