Twitter Thread: Subjects, Stop Trying To Force Yourself Into Stuff That Isn't Working | 5/22/22

Original thread: https://twitter.com/h_sleepingirl/status/1529109974877716486

I see people posting all the time. "I can't stop my brain." "I can't relax." "I can't focus." "I can't cum hands free."

Just stop. Stop trying to do those things. They are not necessary for deep trance.

The biggest skill I tell people to learn as hypnotists is to go WITH someone's process, not AGAINST it. When you are being hypnotized by a non responsive file or someone who doesn't quite know what they're doing, part of your responsibility as a subject is to do this yourself.

Stop going against your own process. You can't stop your racing thoughts? Almost no one can. Don't stop them.

Speed them up. Think actively about what is happening to you. Make up mantras in your own head. Pick a word that you hear that resonates with you and think about it. Challenge yourself to see how long you can keep thinking. Think about how hot hypnosis is. Try NOT to think about how hot hypnosis is. Analyze your own thoughts and see if you can find the spaces between them. Think about what your thoughts feel like. Imagine what it would be like if your thoughts were hypnotized. Experiment. Play.

There are so many misconceptions about what the hypnotic experience is supposed to be, and I know that this is where these impulses come from. But think about something like judo, where you never want to go directly up against a force -- you always want to use that force to your advantage.

Your body and mind are tense. Everyone has a hard time relaxing on command. So instead of trying for some impossible, nebulous sense of relaxation, think about how that tension could be good for hypnosis.

When we are aroused, we are usually tense. People who have difficulty reaching orgasm with sex are told to tense up because it activates the muscles and bloodflow needed for arousal and orgasm.

You don't need to be relaxed to be hypnotized. So find a purpose for the tension, turn it into a conduit for arousal -- tense up in the same way you tense up when you're really turned on, embarrassed, or masturbating/having sex and close to cumming. (Btw, yes, this will help with HFOs.)

Generally you can be much more active (physically and mentally) in trance than you think. In fact, you want to be, because many of us have fantasies about walking around or doing stuff, physically actively obeying in trance. Hypnosis is not just you laying there. Build that muscle memory, move your body (and brain).

Hypnosis is very simply shifts in your perception. It is not blankness, relaxation, or automatic response to every suggestion. Learn the subtle physical and mental sensations of what these perception shifts feel like, broaden your sensory vocabulary about what trance is, and you will legitimately go and feel deeper.

When the hypnotist says, "Focus on my voice," at the start, that's a suggestion. Allow yourself to notice the way that your attention changes, even if it's that you're becoming more aware of your own process. Learn to recognize more nuance in your experience. Pay attention to what your eyes, lips, and neck feel. Develop an understanding of these small changes and signs of trance.

And stop forcing yourself. Seriously. Yes, if you stop forcing yourself, the relaxation and etc will come easier. But just generally stop thinking that it is needed. You're not failing if you go from relaxed to more tense/active. You are literally just responding.

Alright y'all, I'm OUT!
