"Sorry bout that!"
For this sketch, I really REALLY wanted to emphasize the motion. I didn't aim for a strictly "realistic" look here, even more so than usual. I find that pushing things past their realistic limits helps sell the sense of weight and motion. To that end, I wanted to give that big arm a real heavy look as it takes almost all of Colette's body to swing it across the frame.
Another thing I want to highlight is the choice of moments to draw. In comics, unlike say, animation, you're really picking what "frames" to use to show your scene. When it comes to something like depicting impact, ironically, you'll often find that drawing the EXACT moment of impact is the least visceral way to show an impact. The most bang for your proverbial buck is to draw the wind up and then the aftereffect.
