So on a lark, I decided to finally download Umamasume: Pretty Derby and I gotta admit, I'm enjoying it. That said, I actually don't like anime "moe" all that much! Moe (mo-ey) is a term that kinda means cute also "strong feelings of affection." For me, personally, it's a bit much! Also "moe" tends to rely on tropes that can be pretty repetitive.
But the part that's really REALLY good about the game is the surprisingly deep strategy layer. Training and racing the umamasume also has an addictive gameplay loop between races and powering up. If you can deal with the extremely aggressive amounts of moe, you might enjoy one of the most fascinating mobile games out there right now.

if you do download the game, understand that you're PROBABLY gonna fail most campaigns until you start getting more legacies finished. Good luck!

2025-08-15 08:54:28 +0000 UTCA few weeks ago I binged every Umamusume anime, ova, and the movie. Totally fell in love with the whole thing. I've been meaning the play the game to do the campaign at least once with the sole purpose of making Biwa Hayahide the reigning champion since she's my favorite (though she didn't show up much in any of the anime).
