[BoofVR] Alpha Update v0.5!

Hello there everyone! :)

Finally getting to drop this update - additional feature previews for physics for paws touching around the world and characters in VR, PC (Mouse + Keyboard) controls; You can now use your left and right mouse clicks to use your paws to reach out and touch characters and surfaces around!

DOWNLOAD LINK

Open and extract all files using WinRAR or 7Zip, in a folder wherever you wish!
If there are any issues with the download link, please let me know - I'm uploading a mirror download link at the moment as well :)

There may be issues with the VR version at the moment (if you cannot launch VR mode, right click the shortcut for BoofVR Desktop Mode > Properties > Shortcut tab > In "Target:", replace the -hmd to -vr as the following:

If there are still issues with the hands, please hold for a bit until I replace the download with a hotfix for this - we're currently looking into it to see what's up!

Apologies there's not much art in this build this time around, as mentioned previously, I was caught up terribly with a lot of projects at work with my real day-job as an art director. I've been trying to catch up as best as I can since the start of this week, and hope that I can continue keeping up the pace. I've been also improving the rig for the new model too - here are some tests I've done with the new Were model and animations that'll be available in BoofVR!

And now, please look forward to the new Ollie model, previews will be up soon!

I do apologize for that! But perhaps true :) I'll be frank that a lot of the times I end up getting things delivered off schedule due to various other responsibilities of varying priorities that come and go. Either way I'm aiming on improving this slowly as I've got a bit more time on my hands to actually work on BoofVR for the time being. I can understand the frustration, believe me, it frustrates me too because I try to squeeze time when I want to do so much. I'll see about how I can manage this better - so it's a bit more of a positive experience rather than a negative one, especially for this kind of fun project :)

You should really stop giving time lines for when something is gonna be released, it never seems to work out :/ Not trying to be negative, just some advice, that way you dont' give false hope :(

Hey everyone! I'm currently making another build to fix the VR mode issue for hands not appearing correctly, please hold - I'll put up a notification once this hotfix is up and ready for download :) thank you for the bug reports altogether, they help a lot!

There was a bug I encounterd when I put it into VR MODE , I launched the game and everything was normal. But when I loaded into a world I had "Yellow skeleton" hands and the hands model was stuck and glitched into the floor. I am not sure why. You can also see the hands to your right when in the "Lobby" (main menu) spinning around in the floor.

This is most likely a bug from upgrading the engine version - will have a look and see what's going on, those maps will be removed soon and replaced with a better style we're aiming for as well! But thank you for letting us know, the more bug listing the better :)

In addition to the hand tracking issues seen by others, neither the beach nor the garage are loading properly. The model geometry and textures are mostly present but the lighting is weird and overexposed. I'm using an Nvidia GTX 1060, hope that it's not an awful and complicated bug.

Sucks to see some people experiencing issues, but hey it's to be expected with something of this complexity and scale. Good luck devs!

I managed to get the game running in VR with my Oculus Rift S, but the tracking on the hands don't seem to work. My hands are just the skeletons of two left hands and the actual models for the paws are on the ground, not tracking my hands.

Think we've just fixed this issue, and it should be updated once the hotfix build is ready and uploaded tonight :) thank you for letting us know!

I've got this too and I can usually spot my hands violently flying around on the main menu

Refuses to work in VR with quest 2 even when using -vr. Also it still says 0.3 at the launch screen.

I don't really know how to describe this. I'm playing on an index, and the game starts fine. However, when I get into one of the scenarios my hands vanish, and I can't interact with anything. My hands reappear when I enter menus, but then go away again when I close them. Other than that, the desktop mode works very well!

Hey! Happy to see a new update for Boof!!! When I try to download and extract the zip file it gives me an unknown error, not sure what's going on there.
