INTERIOR – BEDROOM – NIGHT
A dreamy slumber-party scene. A gaggle of gorgeous girls in nighties is primping at the mirror, applying lipstick, while EDDIE, a tall and awkward young man wearing a t-shirt and jeans, stands at the center of the group looking out of place. He glances longingly at one of the girls, VERONICA, but she doesn't notice. We hear EDDIE's voice narrating.

EDDIE (VOICEOVER): I’d been crazy about Veronica forever, but I could never work up the guts to say so. To her I was just a friend... a nice, harmless boy to carry her books at college and listen to her swoon over other guys. She was always bringing me along to hang out with her girlfriends, and now they'd even invited me to their slumber party. I was so pathetically non-threatening that they felt like they could bounce around in their little nighties in front of me, all night long! I knew I never should've gone, but I was desperate to spend every moment I could with Veronica. God, how I ached to feel her touch...

EDDIE looks woozy as he watches the girls pout and preen for the mirror, and one of the girls notices him and looks concerned.

GIRL #1: What's the matter, Eddie? You're all sweaty!

EDDIE: Oh, it's... just a little hot in here, that's all.

VERONICA: Those jeans are too warm for a summer night, silly goose. I told you to wear your jammies!

EDDIE: Well... that would've felt kinda weird, don't you think? I mean, a guy wearing just his pajamas, hanging around with a bunch of girls in their... uh...

GIRL #2: Aw, none of us would've cared, Eddie. I mean, you're not exactly a GUY-guy.

EDDIE gulps, trying to hide the pain.

EDDIE: I'm not?

VERONICA: No. Really, you're just like one of the girls!

EDDIE: What?! No, I'm...

GIRL #3: Most boys are so pushy, so rough and tough... not like you. You're sweet, gentle...

GIRL #4: Soft.

EDDIE: Huh? I'm not soft!

VERONICA giggles and gives him an affectionate pat on the shoulder.

VERONICA: You fit right in with us, Eddie. You belong here... with the girls!

EDDIE looks panicked. He can't take it anymore.

EDDIE: No, I don't! I'm not like you girls! I'm a man! I'm...

He suddenly begins to shudder as his body contracts and ripples and his features soften. A sheer green negligee materializes around him while his hair grows long and rolls itself up in curlers atop his head. Just like that, he's somehow become the prettiest girl in the bedroom. He gasps, staring at the red tube of lipstick he's suddenly holding in his delicate little hand.

EDDIE: What the..? How could this happen?!

The GIRLS just shrug and continue putting on their makeup around him.

GIRL #1: Well... I guess it was bound to happen eventually.

GIRL #2: Yeah. It’s no big surprise.

EDDIE: Huh? What do you mean, it's “no big surprise”?! This is definitely a big, BIG surprise!

The girls all grin eager, creepy grins and turn to face him, moving closer. One girl offers EDDIE a dainty pink beauty mirror and he waves it away furiously. Another girl comes at EDDIE with a handheld hairdryer and he swats at it in horror while the others laugh. VERONICA leans in, so close to him their noses are almost touching.

VERONICA: Aw, don’t fuss, sugar. Being a boy was all wrong for you. It's better like this. Now we can do fun girl stuff with you... like painting your toenails pink!

GIRL #4: Yeah. And then... a full makeover!

EDDIE hugs himself miserably as the GIRLS close in on him with hairbrushes, mascara wands, and frilly dresses on hangers. We hear EDDIE's narration return, his voice sadder now.

EDDIE (VOICEOVER): Well, I always ached for Veronica's touch, and now that I'm her best girlfriend, she touches me all the time... whenever she braids my hair... or powders my cheeks... or slathers my face in cold cream... or waxes my legs... or...

(FADE OUT.)
