INTERIOR. COLLEGE CLASSROOM. DAY.

DUKE, a cocky football player in a red and blue jersey, is teasing LILA, a blonde student who is writing weird, magical symbols in a pink notebook. Other students are milling about in the background.

DUKE: Busy doodling in your "spell book" thing again, huh? I don't get it. Why do you wanna waste your time with all this make-believe magic crap?

LILA: (shrugs) I'm not wasting my time. My magic’s real.

DUKE: Yeah? Prove it. Make me the biggest, toughest guy on the team!

LILA thinks for a moment.

LILA: Well, I do have a spell that brings out your true self… basically, whatever your deepest desire is.

DUKE: Okay, go ahead. Let’s see it.

LILA mutters an incantation. Duke shivers, a strange energy pulsing through him.

DUKE: Whoa. I think I can feel it! I'm actually changing... getting bigger... stronger!

A soft glow surrounds DUKE, and he suddenly transforms into a slender, pretty girl version of himself. His jersey ripples and reshapes into a bright red and blue cheerleader uniform and a pair of sparkling gold pompoms appear in his hands. His hair grows into long brunette pigtails, bouncing as he moves. His eyes glaze over and he shouts giddily, shaking his pompoms and fully caught up in the cheerleader energy:

DUKE: Big and strong! Tough and mean! I'll be the great-est on the team! Yaaaaay meeee!!

He stops mid-cheer, realizing something is very wrong. He looks down at himself in horror.

DUKE: Wait… what’s happening? I’m a… I’m a cheerleader! What the hell did you do to me?!

LILA covers her mouth, trying not to laugh.

LILA: Hey, don't blame me! My spell just brought out your true self, and I guess this is your true self. I might’ve saved you a few years of... figuring things out.

DUKE: But... I don't wanna... I'm not...

MAYA, another student, rushes up to DUKE and gives him a big smile.

MAYA: Hey, I didn't know we had a new girl on the squad. I can already tell, you're gonna be fantastic. You're super cute... and you really know how to shake those pompoms!

DUKE blushes furiously. This is all just too much for the poor boy.

DUKE: Uh, th-thanks… I guess.

MAYA leaves. DUKE reaches up with a trembling little hand to touch his hair.

DUKE: Well, I guess maybe my pigtails are… kinda cute?
