INTERIOR – COSTUME SHOP – EVENING

A young couple is sitting on a couch in a costume shop, waiting to get served. The BOYFRIEND is dressed normally and he looks grouchy, and his sad, fidgety GIRLFRIEND is wearing a cute little costume with denim overalls and rainbow knee socks. A pink neon sign in the shop window reads “Moona's Magical Makeovers.” The curtain behind the counter parts and MOONA, a woman in a big goofy moon hat, emerges. The BOYFRIEND gives her a dubious look.

MOONA: Happy Halloween, my dears!

BOYFRIEND: Yikes. The sign said you do "magical makeovers"... but if that hat is your idea of magical, we might be in trouble!

MOONA chuckles.

MOONA: Oh, my makeovers are quite magical, I assure you! Now, what sort of transformation are we after today?

BOYFRIEND: I need you to do some work on my girl, here. I told her to dress up foxy for Halloween because I wanted to show her off to the guys, you know? And then today I go to her place to pick her up, and she looks like a damn toddler!

The GIRLFRIEND sighs and picks at a loose purple thread in one of her socks.

GIRLFRIEND: I'm dressed as Rainbow Sparkles. I loved her cartoon when I was a kid. I tried to tell him that I'm just not real comfortable showing a lot of skin, but --

BOYFRIEND: (Talking over her, to MOONA) We don't got a lot of time before the party, so let's hurry up and do this. I want you to go wild with her, give her something real foxy!

MOONA smiles with a hint of mischief in her eyes.

MOONA: I see. You want something foxy, hmm?

She waves her hand and there is a magical POOF! When the smoke clears the BOYFRIEND has transformed into a stunning, red-haired FOX GIRL with long, twitching ears and a fluffy tail.

BOYFRIEND: What the...!? What'd you do to me?!

MOONA: You were being quite a beast, dear. If anybody here should be a fox, it's you.

BOYFRIEND: Change me back, right now!

MOONA: Oh, I don't think so. You’ll stay this way until your lady friend decides you’ve learned your lesson!

The GIRLFRIEND’s eyes light up. She clasps her hands in delight.

GIRLFRIEND: Oh my gosh! She looks just like Foxie Flufftail, my favorite cartoon ever! She’s adorable!

BOYFRIEND: What?! Come on, babe... this isn’t funny!

MOONA: (Ignoring him, to the GIRLFRIEND) I'm glad you like her. There's no charge for my services... but you must promise me you'll take good care of your little fox.

GIRLFRIEND: Oh, I’m going to spoil her rotten! Treats, naps, belly rubs... and I’ll brush her ears and tail every day, so her fur stays nice and silky!

BOYFRIEND: No, babe! Come on, change me back... please?

She grabs his hand, dragging him out of the store. His tail is twitching nervously now. MOONA smiles, watching them go. As the shop door closes, we hear the GIRLFRIEND happily prattling on.

GIRLFRIEND: I'm gonna call you Foxie, just like the cartoon, and I'll get you a cute little collar with your own name tag, and...
