JKXR (formally JKQuest) Companion App Launch (Meta Only)

APK Downloads Here: https://www.quakevr.com/patreon/

This is the first release of the JKXR (formally JKQuest) Companion App. Currently this is only for Meta headsets. As soon as Pico's Unity OpenXR support moves up from experimental I'll be supporting there as well.

The companion app allows you to manage your mods easily without having to transfer files across manually using SideQuest. It also allows you to Launch those mods directly (in the case of Mod Missions). If you don't have the full Jedi Knight: Outcast game, you can actually download the demo and play that without needing the full game assets (you will need version 0.6.2 of JKQuest to do this).

It should be pretty self-explanatory to get working. Install the APK via Sidequest, in the same way as the main game. Launch from the unknown sources. On the left you have two options. "Mod Missions" and "Addons". Mod Missions are SP maps / campaigns. Once downloaded they will appear in the 3rd list "Game Launch". Select the one you want and click "Launch" to get straight into that mission. To get back to the main game select the first Jedi Knight 2 Icon from that same "Game Launch" list. You can double check what it is doing as the commandline preview shows above the Launch button.

"Addons" are usually cosmetic changes. Things like new sabers or outfits for Kyle. There is also direct access to the Extended Menu mod, which can be used for testing and spawning multiple NPCs. Addons do not need to be selected, they will be there on the game start.

You can delete any of the mods you have installed by clicking on the relevant button on the left columns then clicking twice on "Delete".

For the future this will also serve Jedi Academy mods, of which there are many!

In addition to the Companion App, we've also released a new version of JKQuest. There are not a huge amount of changes there, mostly bug fixes, but has moved to the same system as RazeXR, meaning there is only one APK serving both Meta headsets and Pico.

We've got updates coming towards the end of March for JKQuest, including some excellent looking fully-sided weapons and the long-talked about Team Beef Directors Cut. I wouldn't be surprised if an early playable look of Jedi Academy also was close by.

That's all for me now. Enjoy and as Hans Solo said on the bridge of the Enterprise, "To Infinity..... and Beyond!"

Comments

Hi there, we noticed that too, we will have a look if we can fix that.

Minor observation: When playing the 'Dark Forces' Mod, the default hand/gun orientation points to 9 o'clock, but the target reticle points straight ahead. The Stormtrooper rifle, by comparison, works fine.

Awesome! Thank you team!
