I like to think that maybe on the letter there was some kinda of biological matter from Ymir. A trace of a tear. Maybe a skin flake 😂. So HIstoria was then "touching" Ymir and connecting to her memories, like she did with Eren, like Historia did when she "killed" her father by flying around cutting the main part of the Titan's nape (which in the manga they say is the length of the human spinal cord). Historia must have come in contact with some of the blood and guts when she cut that piece of meat. 🤮

2024-08-27 11:33:32 +0000 UTCThey don't really explain why Historia could see Ymir's memories but it's my guess that she probably was able to do so because she had a strong emotional connection with Ymir. So being that Historia is of royal blood, and Ymir held one of the Nine Titans, she was able to connect to her memories, through the connection Eldians share via the Coordinate, for just a brief moment when she read her letter.
