Thank you very much

Project Farm LLC

This is literally amazing all the work you have done over the years!

Tad

your data base is worth joining patron for ... thanks for all the hardwork ... great value for the consumer looking for value for the money ....

Don H.

Hi Eric, thanks the review idea. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Idea for testing video, snow/Ice traction devices for driving. They have some like big zip ties, chain and so on. Anyway, thanks for all the great reviews and insight, I think you should get an award from the CPB.

Eric Tooley

Hi John, I prefer Patreon since Patreon takes a smaller cut. Thanks for supporting the channel and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Todd, I just recently noticed the join option in YouTube. I’ve been a Patreon member to your channel for some time now but was curious which way is best to contribute to support the channel. Of one is better than the other I would be happy to Join as opposed to Patreon. Let me know? Thanks

John W

I don't believe so or at least I haven't found a way to do so. Thank you

Project Farm LLC

Does Patreon let you pin a post? I'll bookmark the database link myself, but wouldn't want anyone to miss that. Super useful.

Thank you for the video idea on comparing dehumidifiers. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Tyler, I live in a very humid spot and have been running dehumidifiers for the last 18 years. I have had many brands and currently have a Haier. It, so far, has run much longer than any other and is as quiet as any. I highly recommend. I have usually got a year or maybe 18 months from a 70qt dehumidifier before something corroded or clogged or whatever, but the Haier is going on 2 years and seems to be going strong (knock on wood!!) If you get one I do hope it serves you as well as it has served me. I even bought another that was slightly damaged to replace this one when it fails but so far that one is in storage. I hope it stays there but the reality is these things only last so long.

lhcboy

Hi Tyler, Thank you for the positive feedback and for the video idea on dehumidifiers. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Can't say how many time's I've used your channel to make a decision...I haven't found much useful info on dehumidifiers online. Would a test of which commonly available dehumidifiers be something you would consider?

Tyler Albers

Hi Jeff, Thanks for the information! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

i went to harbor frieght and bought their nibbler. i used it for 18g sheet metal for a car and for home roofing tin. the tin was thicker but the nibbler did it's job. think i paid 35 bucks for the nibbler and it cut more than 30 sheets of tin and did a few quarter panels on a car. it's still working. also, depending on what you're using it for or cutting, they have a straight kind and one that looks like a gun, it has a handle. for the tin, it would have been better to get the straight kind for all the curves in the tin. the handle kept getting in the way going up/down on the tin. just things to consider.

jeff lackey

Hi Matt, Thank you for the suggestion. If you were designing 4-5 performance tests, how would you setup the tests? What types and thicknesses of sheet metal? Thanks for the suggestion. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hey Todd, Can you do a test on sheet metal nibblers? They range in price from about $99.00 to over $300.00. I'm going to be needing one and need to know if I'm going to have to spend close to 300 for one I may use a lot once and occasionally after that. Matt

Matt Childers

brake pads (and rotors) is a brilliant idea

Volatus Kawaridane

Hi Mario, Those are both great suggestions! Thank you

Project Farm LLC

Hey Tod love you channel!!! A lot of the stuff I buy is influenced by you... Suggestion: Automotive Drive Belts and Brake Pads... These are items I'm thinking of buying in the next year... Thanks a bunch!!

Mario Chapa

Thank you for the video idea on comparing locks. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Suggestion. Todd excellent work. My suggestion is for you to test locks for weather, especially ice resistance. A lot of people these days have locks on their storage units, sheds, etc. Many people have found these locks not to work well when frozen. That is what I am finding also. Master has a lock they claim is weather proof. Many Amazon reviewers are finding that not to be accurate.

MM

Locane, Thank you. Yes, the back of the hand was swollen and extremely sore after all of the cutting. lol. The hand is as good as new again. Thanks again! Todd

Project Farm LLC

You've got a GREAT list of videos already 🙂 I love the once-a-week release schedule but for me, at least, I don't wish it would come out even faster, I just feel a nice sweet spot of surprise and joy when a new video drops. That last one with the scissors must have been absolutely brutal on your hand 😬 - don't feel pressured to hurry!

Locane

Great suggestion. I'm still not sure about the order in which I publish but here's a list: mini bolt cutters, torque wrenches, tap and die sets, best deck screws, wood bits, long nose pliers, right angle attachments, CLPs, and a tool battery comparison. Working as fast as I can. Thanks for supporting the channel!

Project Farm LLC

Todd could we get a sneak peak at what the next few weeks videos will be?? I realize it could change but it might be a nice perk to see what's ahead. :) Would be great to see some activity here :)

Locane

Thank you for leaving comments! I enjoy interacting with everyone. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hi Project Farm! Great videos, excellent science. I'm WillN2Go_1 (lots of comments.....) I usually go right to Amazon after your video and Wishlist one of the highest performing tools. Thank you and keep up the great work!

WillN2Go1 .

Hi Keith, Thank you for the video idea. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

We have frequent power outage here, so after seeing a TV ad, I bought a pair of Bell & Howell lithium-battery powered LED light bars. When they were delivered, I charged them and they worked fine. I keep them shut off and plugged in for 18 months, then there was another blackout. *Ah! I’m all set!* I thought. I brought out the B&H light bars and they glowed dimly for 20 seconds then went out for good. I’d like to see comparison testing on several such emergency-lighting units.

Keith Otis Edwards

No they are not the same brand or model.

robert barclay

Hi Robert, Thanks for the information. Are the 2 infrareds the same brand? Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

We have an oral and 2 infrared and get a different reading off each. I think Bob the test dummy would even give 2 infrared readings that were different..

robert barclay

Hi Dan, Thank you very much for the positive feedback!! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

My experience is Consumer Reports is hit and miss on their testing anyway. Project Farm would be far more reliable.

Dan Hancock

Hey Todd, Hope all is well with you and your family. My 6 year old nephew came to live with us recently. We're now having to deal with him being sick (not Covid as far as we can tell), so having an accurate thermometer is a very important issue. There's a confusing array of types and brands to chose from: infrared, in the mouth, ear, forehead, etc. Do you think this is something you might be able to tackle? You may want to separate the categories to test several brands for each type on different episodes. With today's circumstances, an accurate thermometer reading can mean the difference between a hospitalization, school attendance or being able to go to work. Surprisingly Consumer Reports hasn't tested this category at all.

Gregory Garduno

Thanks for the video idea!

Project Farm LLC

Hey PF! Have you seen this video on the superiority of older wedge-shaped nails?? This sounds like a job for Project Farm 😎 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rwcGXIORro

Locane

Adrian, Thank you very much for supporting the channel. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

He's a good egg. Definitely worth supporting.

Adrian Schmidt

Hi Michael, Thank you very much for your generosity! Also, thank you for the positive feedback on the testing too. The encouragement helps and keeps me motivated to keep going. I definitely want to offer tremendous value to those who watch the channel, hoping it will make the world a better place. Those words "Well done my good and faithful servant" have a huge impact on the effort I put into the videos. If times are ever the least bit tight financially, please don't hesitate to cut back to stop support. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Thank you, Todd. I appreciate your personal response. I just bumped up my $1 per month to $5 per month. I hope you are aware that you are setting a new standard for YouTube. Many will try to duplicate what you have done, but you can always feel very good that you set a new quality standard that is affecting people worldwide. That's pretty cool, Todd. You obviously want to make the world a better place. I very much admire that. However, when you are performing the countless hours of tedious tasks, in order to create videos for millions of strangers, please know that many of us are most grateful. I am hopeful that someday, you will be rewarded with the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Michael Huskey

Hi Michael, Thank you for the positive feedback. Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRSdaMe-QIMjm-ZcfX8mdjY1srdCeJUg2m-IwjSWPKoRhzW5bWos35RGQ-YMR4iZA-iWB68wKegptex/pubhtml

Project Farm LLC

Thank you for being better than Consumer Reports, when it comes to comparisons. I not sure how to download the Quick Reference Database. I don't see a link. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for letting me know.

Michael Huskey

Thank you for the suggestion on the data sheet format. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

This table needs a column for those products recommended for each test.

Woland

Hi Stephen, Thank you for the video suggestion on comparing rotary tools. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I don't see a video about rotary (Dremel-like) tools, corded and cordless. I'm thinking about buying a new one and the first place I looked was Project Farm.

Stephen Wallace

Thank you. I haven't been able to find any counterfeits. I would definitely like to test them.

Project Farm LLC

reading into this, this doesnt seem like your usual content but it would be just as educational to see and a good public service announcement so we can catch this stuff before it hurts someone.

Trancey B Pony

Hi Lance, Thank you very much for following up on this. I'll definitely try to locate some counterfeits. It'd be very interesting and a great video for overall public awareness. Also, glad the stainless steel zip ties are holding up. They are indeed very impressive. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hi Todd, ever since I mentioned making a “counterfeits” video, I’ve been shaking the tree, trying to find any of my old contacts in the IP Crime world. Unfortunately, everyone I worked with back in the day have retired or moved on. The emails I’ve sent to their general email boxes have gone unanswered. I can’t dig up anything locally - if you were interested to trying it in your area, you could try buying some electrical products in your Chinatown area - look for spelling mistakes on the packaging and poor construction. We used to seize electrical extension cords that said “Heavy Duty - perfect for power tools” but felt like overcooked spaghetti. The wire in them was about as thick as a hair. UL used to test them by coiling them on top of a paper towel and plugging them into a higher draw hairdryer. They’d burst into flames within 45 seconds. We also seized a truckload of power bars that were incredibly poorly-made, with the same super thin wire and fake UL stickers, and bedside lamps for kids that caused several deaths. You can usually find these things in the real low-end grungy “dollar stores”, but not the brand name “Dollarama” or “Anything for a Dollar” stores, although you may. Sorry I let you down - I’m kind of stunned that everyone I used to work with back in the day are gone, and the new people don’t seem to care. If I get any delayed response from anyone, I’ll let you know. Oh, I’ve already said thanks for the report on the metal zip ties, but I went to check on my boat today. We’ve had extremely high winds for the last two days, and I climbed into my boat, with the cover hammering on the frame, and the wind howling (literally) around the boats. For the first time ever, everything is still in perfect shape, with nary a blown zip tie or frame member in sight! This one tip justified my Patreon payments. You ‘da man! Thanks, Lance

Lance H

Thanks.

Allan Glasser

Hi Forrest, I hope you are doing well too. I need to compare concrete anchors soon. Great suggestion! Thank you and best regards, Tood

Project Farm LLC

Hi Todd, hope you're doing well. I recently started at a kennel, and I need to replace several gate locks into block walls. Have you thought of doing a concrete/cinderblock anchor test? Thanka for all the awesome information!Forrest

F.N. Photography

Nice timing!

Project Farm LLC

Lol, as your message popped up, I’m watching your “shear strength” video.

Lance H

Hi Lance, Awesome! I'm glad metal zip ties are holding up. I've been using them as well and have not had any failures. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I’ve been using “rugged- perfect for winter” plastic ties on my sailboat winter cover for four years. It secures a skeleton of plastic electrical conduit to the boat, with a fitted fabric cover over it. It sits beside the shore of Lake Ontario, covered in snow, and exposed to howling icy winds all winter. Every year, I’d come back, find broken pipes and broken zip ties. The snow would fill in the depression and start to collapse the cover. I’d check it every week and make several repairs every winter, which was a huge pain. I always wondered if it was the zip ties or pipes that were failing. After seeing Project Farm, this year I switched to the metal zip ties he tested. The result? As of yesterday, no breaks, no damage, zero issues. I taped over each metal tie to keep the razor edges from slicing through the cover. Thank you Project Farm!

Lance H

Great suggestion on testing tire pressure gauges. Thank you!

Project Farm LLC

Heya PF, I checked the database but didn't see this (and was a little surprised). How about testing tire pressure gauges? Seems like an easy one. Thanks for all you do.

ChuckD

Hi Logres, Thank you very much for the positive feedback and congratulations on your family. Having children is great! I wish you the very best in the future too.

Project Farm LLC

Thanks for investing so much time and energy into something to benefit folks. Beautiful family, too. 3 boys here. May all your endeavors build your dreams!

Logres Mentotum

Hi Allan, Please check this link. It has the updated information. Thanks http://bit.ly/2FCrBpk

Project Farm LLC

can you update the spreadsheet with your latest reviews

Allan Glasser

Hi Eli, Thank you very much for the positive comments and for the video idea. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

So... I have a possible video idea... One day, I noticed a crack in my coolant reservoir on my car. I needed to order one, but until it came in, I needed to glue it. I was surprised to find that many glues will not work on certain plastics. PP (polypropylene) in this case... I did find a JB Weld product that worked, but even JB Weld made 2 products that didn't work. I think it was the JB Weld Plastic Bonder that did work. The JB Weld standard did not work, and the JB Weld Plastic Weld did no different than regular JB Weld. I also tried superglue and superglue activator... I did google and discovered that these plastics had a "low surface energy" or whatever. But it leads me to curiosity about which products actually work on these types of plastics. I should point out that I did some basic tests and nylon acted the same as a plastic, however... PA6-GF30 did not act the same. I assume the 30% fiberglass part had provided a bonding surface? Because you are so thorough, I will also point out that scoring with rough sand paper does help in some plastics, but not so much in PP. I bet other people would find this interesting. Just an idea. I love your videos, it always seems like you have fun.

Eli Vaughan

Hi Calpurgnius, Thank you very much for future video idea comparing air compressors. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hi, i've been hoping you will make a comparison between air compressors for a long time, i'm currently in the market for a new one because i had a Stanley one which was very disappointing.

I-AleG

Hi Chris, Great selection on Stanley! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I needed a hot glue for smooth plastic... found out quickly that Stanley was the one for the job!

The Sno(w) Chao Cabal (chao as in chaos = cow)

Please test cold galv paint. Prefer out of a can!

Thank you very much for the video ideas. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Could you please test - diesel in a gasoline tank of a car (is there a percentage of diesel beyond which the tank has to be drained and cleaned), different dust separating systems attached to a shop vac in a wood working shop. Inspired by your sugar in gas and shopvac comparison videos.

Rav

Thank you very much! Hope the painter's tape video helped!

Project Farm LLC

My wife was just mentioning wanting good painter's tape to position quilting squares on the wall in lieu of a gihugeous quilting table. I said to her "Project Farm to the rescue!"

grovermatic

This is awesome! It will also be great if we could submit possible things to test in the future and suggest the items/brands to test — which could help a little with some of the initial research work!

Isaac Chua

As someone who loves data this is a dream come true

Cameron

Great Job Jim and Todd. Jim thanks so much for your work on this database!

Nashguy207

I love seeing this and need to share what I put together. I also took some time a while back to capture all the winners and top finishers from the shootouts and product reviews. I'm glad to see I am not the only "nerd". Mine is in an excel style table that can be filtered by category. Thanks again, Todd for being our product advocate. You are doing an outstanding job. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XIpN69dOgcmrqX9snaAqwjbotuXhNKWbAfuPVnzUPLs/edit?usp=sharing

Steve Mallow

Thanks Yosef!

Chris

Fantastic! This is exactly what I’ve wanted for a long time. Even considered going through all Todd’s videos and creating the list, but never enough time... THANK YOU!

Derek Smith

Much thanks Jim and Todd. Proud to be a Patron!

This is awesome!!! I'd love to see it expanded to include the winners from each test as well.

Derek Smith

Been wanting this for some time! Appreciate it!

Joceephus Of Maynard

Finally! I can stand in the big box store and figure out quickly (after watching the video again) which zip tie to buy (spoiler alert: Harbor Freight!). Thank you!!! (Really I thank you for this)

Adrian Abshire

That's fantastic. Time to pop "Mountain" by Bobby Renz on in the background and have a read. :D

OzRetrocomp

This is absolutely amazing!!!

Christopher Manfredo

Great question. Yes, the database will be updated very soon after each video is published. Thanks again

Project Farm LLC

Excellent!

Eugene Luder

Fantastic. Thank you.

James B Daly

This is awesome! Will the database continue to be updated?

Michael I Poole

Love it!

The Garage Hub

Nice!

Sonny Van Hook

I was literally just thinking about a database of the tested items yesterday. Perfect.

Sawyer Mishak

Jeff is right. A domain is dirt cheap these days!

Bryce DonFrancisco

You need to build a website! This would be perfect for that. Links to all the videos, links to products, test results, transcribed videos. Would be better than consumer reports.
