Weekly Update - 6/25/25

I got QT2:42 out a couple of days ago, and I'll post Merlin's Gift 3 in the wee hours of the morning after I get back from poker night and finish it. (It's about 2/3rds of the way there right now.) Then I'm going to launch straight into getting caught back up on commissions for the next few days, see where we can get with that.
My head has cleared up a little bit, which is good, because I'm overseas bound in less than two weeks now, and I'll endeavor to get as much writing done on planes or in trains as I can. I'm not sure how full international travel will be right now, but hopefully I don't go too crazy. After I get back from that, I'm going to Colorado to see my first ever concert at Red Rocks, which is Andrew McMahon in all his various incarnations (Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness) with a friend of mine. Then everything quiets down for quite a while.
I'm not organizing a bit international trip this year, but next year, I'll definitely have one, maybe two. I (and my best and oldest friend) turn 50 next autumn within a little more than a week of each other, so he and I are going to go somewhere to celebrate, but we haven't figured out quite where that'll be yet. His first suggestion was 'up a goddamn mountain,' but imagining the two of us freezing our asses off in the Swiss Alps sounds miserable... so we'll see. In addition to that, the bunch of folks I dragged with me to New Zealand last year want me to organize another trip, but nobody's decided where yet. Plenty of time for that, though. That's NEXT year's problems. Ha!
Anyway, thanks for all the kind words of support last week. Sometimes it feels like the world enjoys kicking people in the teeth and it was just my time on the turnaround.

I'm in both camps, I started with QT and got annoyed it was so slow, have now read basically everything else and it turns out I just want more of everything now π€·ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ

2025-07-01 10:05:10 +0000 UTCWhat pisses me off the most, I think, are the 2 or 3 people on here that want you to focus on only 1 or 2 stories, and make it known REPEATEDLY that they don't want to bother reading anything else you write. One of the reasons I signed up for a year at the 3rd level is because I LOVE all the different genres that you've focused on. The one story I'm still not completely sold on is the one with Lucifer's daughter trying to not get snuffed before she can take over hell, but I still read it, at least (and it has been growing on me rec... well, when you've put it out, that is π ). I feel pretty strongly that this attitude they have is contributing to the "Imposter Syndrome" you've been going through periodically, and it's bullshit that you have to be subjected to it. Why they feel the need to CONSTANTLY bring it up is beyond me, but you've been very accommodating so far. If they were doing that to me, I'd have snapped and either tore them a new one or canceled their membership and banned them from ever resubbing. Handle things the way that work best for you, and f*** those tools that don't like it, because the vast majority of us (I'm hoping) here DO like what you're doing... otherwise we wouldn't be here!
