Weekly Update - 9/10/25
Added 2025-09-11 18:05:42 +0000 UTCI should've suspected these weeks were going to be problematic, but I was optimistic. That's my bad. I got the new Have Totem, Will Travel out to people, and I'm currently sitting in an airport, heading back to my hometown for my high school class reunion, and there's a certain pressure that comes from that, compounded by the fact that there were two shootings yesterday, and the press is entirely focused on one and basically ignoring the other.
Look, all political violence is bad. Full stop. End of sentence. But let's not lionize someone who doesn't deserve it, okay? Do your homework. This guy called for violence on so many people in his lifetime that it's very hard to give him any sympathy when violence was done to him. As stated before (and again, for those not paying attention), I think all political violence is bad. I'm just not surprised, especially since their side continues to claim violence against my side is worthy of mockery rather than condemnation.
I'll be on the go for most of the weekend, but I'll see what I can do about trying to get something done, but I'm far from making promises about getting stuff out, because frankly my mind's a mess. (One person I went to high school with described me as a 'Demoncrat' online just a few hours ago, so you can imagine how thrilled I am about this reunion. Most of the people I went to high school still seem reasonable, but at least a few have been lost to the cult of personality.)

Anyway, hold onto those you love and do the best with what you can. It's all we've got right now, us versus them.

2025-09-15 13:26:05 +0000 UTCOf course we all condemn the violence, but as I see the world through the same lens that you do, it remains frustrating, from the top post in the country, on down, that that side takes umbrage only for violence against their own, and are quick to conclude that, without any evidence, the guilt is on the other side. Violence on my people, including the deaths of my acquaintances, the Hortmans, are ignored and dismissed, no blame is accepted on that opposition, and in fact, it's not unusual, as in Minnesota, to initially blame it on divides in our own ranks. All that said, I shared condolences on Facebook for the Kirk family, and I totally abhor the spectre of political assassination, no matter how much I may have disagreed with the man's words and policies. No young family deserves to be torn asunder in that fashion. But, whether this victim or the recent car accident victim, Giuliani, deserve Medals of Freedom, we don't get a plebicite to vote on who does and who doesn't. Whither that the CP post-Duo Halo world were a reality! Try to enjoy your reunion. That you're there will mean something to many, and hopefully you walk away at the end of the night without regrets.
