Season 8 finale (two parts)

Bittersweet to say the least. Alot of things I loved. A couple of things I really didn't. All in all a beautiful show that maybe just lived too long.

More thoughts to come in our character ranking video.

Also let me know what other GoT content we need to watch! We're gonna compile all the little videos and stuff (like the Coldplay musical) into the rankings vid.

Season 8 finale (two parts)

Missandei's Last Words were BURN THEM ALL. That's why Dany and Greyworm are equally heartless and brutal in the end. You guys also forgot Tyrion saying that Dragons are smart - even smarter than men. They are sentient beasts. Drogon could see and feel Jon's sadness; that he really loved Dany and is already mourning her. So he spared him and took Mama away.

As a non reader of the series, I really fell in line with Mike’s overall view of the series. HOWEVER… found this gem watching some other you tuber reactions that was a fan rewrite of the ending. This podcast was just made out of love of the series and gives a pretty great ending that I think would satisfy the empty spots we needed… https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/game-of-thrones-season-8-redux/id1630181958

Great fun hanging with you both revisiting this series, now you can understand why so many GoT fans love watching good reactions, and yours was the most fun and engaging; knowing just how things play out it's a joy to watch the initial innocence, excitement, thrills and the emotional roller coaster, and all the guessing before the whole story eventually burns itself down and the tale comes full circle. Dany's death at the hands of Jon Snow in order to save the 7 kingdoms, as Varys envisioned and worked so hard to bring to fruition, that was my vague spoiler regarding "Remember your Shakespeare". I for one was not all that disappointed or even shocked when Dany burned King's Landing down, it was envisioned and I could see Dany becoming the tyrant, crucifying anyone regardless of their crimes and deeds is quite horrific and takes a particularly brutal and callous leader, because of course "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Great time watching this with you guys, hope to see you again soon, take care of yourselves and each other, peace!

And maybe it was his tooth aching. I know I get fucked mad as fuck with that kinda pain.

It wasn't a shit episode though, it just didn't go the way people "wanted". People get invested in shows in characters and want them to win and be happy and get a payoff, that's just not how this show was ever going to end. "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention" even quotes like this from earlier in the show are small hints you have to pay attention to. Everyone just willingly ignored signs along the way because "wow Dragons cool". I can understand being angry at what happened in an episode, but that doesn't mean the episode was bad. Those are two different things. I was mad when I watched Dany burn down Kings Landing, but I wasn't shitting on the writers for the entirety of the last 2 episodes because they gave us plenty of clues and lead up to see that happening, but people either missed it or ignored it.

Yesss, Blind Wave and Nikki and Steven are my favorite reactors after Bust!

Anna J

Haven’t seen these guys mentioned yet, but I really liked watching the reactions by Blind Wave. Eric is SUPER knowledgeable about a lot of stuff, and I honestly loved watching him tear up at certain parts!

Jackamoo

He’s a film major, I’m pretty sure. He’s a good critic of shit episodes, and that was a shit episode. We pay to see their honest reactions, and his reaction seemed pretty honest.

Justin Sorenson

Aaron was just speaking his truth and reacting honestly. I mean, I felt similarly when I watched it the first time.

I finally finished watching this - 👏🏻👏🏻 know that wasn't easy but pleased that despite the obvious wtf elements you were able to appreciate the satisfying endings to many of the stories - 100% agree execution was off, with time I'm more at peace with it and sure will be the same for you - but there's always gonna be that frustration at the totally unnecessary rushing of one of the most pivotal storyline and it just didn't need to be that way - I did find hotd was such a similar vibe tho right from the off and it did help explain/fill some logic gaps in my head that were simply not done justice in the last season or so Thanks for still bringing it and keeping that open mind and appreciation even when it got super tough! Xxx

Some people skipped HOTD because of how mad they were at season 8 lol how lame is that? lol

All the signs are there littered in since season 2. Every advisor shes ever had that had ties to her father kept reminding her of how fucked up he was... Not because she looks like him but because they see HIM in Dany. She literally fed someone to her dragon in mereen when she didnt know whether he was guilty or not. As for her burning an entire city... You push anybody pass their limits you don't know what they'll do. Thats real life lol

I think fans are the sort of people that will do rewatches, relistenings, revisits indeed.

I understand that you let your emotions take over at times, but man this was something, it felt like all Aaron was trying to do the whole episode was hate everything. Mike even pointed it out near the end, its hard to enjoy watching when you just dookie on every 2 minutes of it. I would suggest rewatching the show after some time and trying to pay closer attention without having allegiances and feelings tied in so much. The writing isn't as bad as you guys and all the "one time watchers" made it out to be. You guys were some of my favorite reactors to this show btw

im sure this has been linked already but you gotta react to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWvQ_X2sqqE

Also Mike you spoke of the vision that Dany had in season 2, you see her go beyond the wall, be in the destroyed, ash covered throne room and never touch the iron throne, then she is reunited with her dead husband and son. I know you wanted to see her on the throne, but this was always meant to happen this way.

Cam

I have the exact same feelings as Mike in the beginning. I love a good villain like Cersei or Littlefinger, and making Dany the villain could have been ground breaking TV had it been done well because this was one of the most loved heroines of our generation. From the beginning, she has always said she was going to “tear down their stone houses” and her enemies would die screaming, therefore, she has announced her intentions from the very beginning. However, she has NEVER harmed the innocent, and was vividly against it which ended up killing her husband and causing her major political problems in Mereen. All of a sudden, in season 8, she burns children and women? Her character goes from losing half her army to save the North and fight Jon’s battle, to everyone being scared of her and making her out to be this horrible person who will snap at any moment. I would have LOVED to hate Dany by the end of the show, but like you said, it was so poorly executed and rushed

Cam

Yall HATED GREYWORM at the end.... What if I told you he's one of my favorite artist EVER lol Here's a short RALEIGH RITCHIE Playlist: https://youtu.be/QoyMvE5g7f8 https://youtu.be/MrnCnCmUrE8 https://youtu.be/z8EiYu_cerE https://youtu.be/lONPuK1Yk_8 https://youtu.be/hYrBOcsrNMs https://youtu.be/X46GfIkjhJg ENJOY!!!

Been delaying it but I finally made myself watch the reaction to the final episode of GOT. It hurts my heart to hear Mike say he’s done with the show (tho we know he doesn’t really mean it!) but I understand…your opening statements about how S8E5 bring back a lot of how I felt when watching for the 1st time. But give the wounds some time to heal & with rewatches it does get better. Oh & Aaron, great shirt! That’s one of my favorite albums of all time. There is so much tension in the scene when Jon comes to visit Tyrion. It’s so heavy with the weight of what Tyrion is suggesting Jon do, it’s almost suffocating. And then when Tyrion says “What about your sisters”, you can feel the tension snap. It wasn’t until that second Jon knew he needed to kill Dany or his sisters (particularly Sansa) would never be safe. Lol Sam, standing up for the common folk even if it makes him the butt of a joke. And if you enjoy the actor who plays Uncle Edmure Tully make an ass of himself, you should check out the series Rome. It’s also an HBO show, only 2 or 3 seasons long, but it was really good & a lot of the actors are in GOT. I’m glad this episode dispelled some of the negative aspects from the last one & I really hope we get some king of Stark/Snow follow up show in the future. In the meantime, I look forward to whatever Bust Reacts series comes next!

Well said! Can’t wait to see the guys start HotD!

Dude, you guys were actually my first patreon subscription. Been awesome rewatching the show along with you. In time, the heartachy feeling you get from seasons 7 & 8 goes away. I watched the wholeeee thing live from the premier of season 1... I was WRECKED by the last season. Not with where the characters ended up but with how rushed/clumsy it all felt. People online were tearing it to shreds and.. sounds dramatic as fuck but it felt like a death. It was something I had been obsessed with for 10 years. Characters I didn't want to let go of. Wasn't even fun to talk shit about it. But! Happy to say, rewatching with you guys made me fall in love with it all over again, even the ending. So don't feel like you wasted time–it's still one of the most incredibly written, thrilling, zeitgeisty shows ever made. 10/10. Oh and just to put your mind at ease... House of the dragon comes out fuckin swinginnnn!! The writers must have taken notes on what we loved about peak game of thrones. It's all the gameplay/conspiracy/strategy from the early GoT seasons but with a fat "S8" budget. Plus, the entire series is already written so they knew where the characters were going from day 1 and it shows. Every character feels grounded. Little risk of having your heart broken again.

When you guys do your rankings video you should also talk about your house alignment (the house you like the most or most identify with)! I think that would be really interesting!
