Patreon Community Discussion Thread

Still working out some of the details here, like the best way to make sure that every patron's ideas and input are being heard. Want to really encourage anyone to voice their thoughts and feedback. If you see something in the queue you think is interesting, if you have thoughts of what merits another pass in the posted content, if you have any sort of playtest feedback.

The goal is to use this as something of a community hub. I think I will put up a poll of what to work on next, but people have things they'd like to see in a poll, feel free to speak up on that too.

I would probably go all the way #2; you character is a construct. That said, not all healing fails on a construct, it's not an inherent property of being a construct. Like, I am pretty sure a construct can still use healing potions. That said, I can totally see either making sense, as you would be, pretty literally, a living construct :) As far as Anti-Magic Fields, my thoughts are... uh... really don't go into one of those, it'd be bad ;) I would probably play that by ear, my thought would be probably a Charisma saving throw with a DC depending on the source of the field... it wouldn't kill outright, but I think there's a real chance you'd be sort of stunned by one of them. That said, if you wanted to go "less hardcore" there's definitely an argument to be made that it wouldn't effect you - Anti Magic fields do not destroy Liches or other Undead, despite the fact that they are unliving by magic. I'd make it effect you some way (I once had player character's whose soul was stored in a bow... he did not have a good time when a beholder looked at him and his bow became nonmagical... really confused the beholder though)... but I think there's definitely room to go either way. Soul Puppet is definitely one of those that requires hashing out with your DM exactly how it will go down (or even leaving some of that to dice rolls to see how well the merger goes off), and I don't think has to be final - you could definitely change your nature over time as you become adapted to your new body - maybe you start as a construct, but after a few weeks slowly turn into a living construct. Maybe you find new magic or techniques that enhance and improve your soul anchor. I think my main thought is it sounds like a blast though :)

I suppose this is as good of a place to put this question as any. So I am currently playing your Warsmith Artificer, and we just hit level 8. I am strongly considering taking the Mental Adaptability feat and using the upgrade to grab Soul Puppet from the Golemsmith to transfer my soul into my armor. Pretty much my only reason for doing this is because I think it would be really cool. My DM agrees that his would be hilarious/cool, but we aren't sure how to treat my character after the fact. We have identified two possible ways to go forward with this. 1. I would function similarly to a Warforged. No need to eat, sleep, or breath, resistance to poison damage and advantage on saves vs poison, and disease immunity while retaining the ability to be healed by our party healer. 2. We treat my character like a construct. I'll be immune to charm, exhaustion, poison and the like, as well as not needing to eat sleep or breath but I cannot be healed by anyone but myself. We also aren't sure what the effects of Anti-Magic Field would do. What are your thoughts on this?
