Ancient Arcane Part I: Gravity

So I'm working on a few things; Runesmith's next pass is overdue, but it is taking some extra thinking, so is a little bit behind... may roll into the post WotC Artificer update (whatever that is) but we'll see. I tried a few changes, but didn't quite get it where I wanted it over the last week.

I've broken ground on the 1/3 Arcane Caster for Warlord, but not able to say too much there - you'll be first to know!

I've been mentioning I was going to work on a series of spells Ancient Arcana for spells concerning Space, Gravity and Time - this is the first piece of that, Gravity.

Given the existence of flying cities and what not in legend, I feel ancient wizards must once have been able to play with gravity far more adeptly... but only little fragments remain!

Spells are still being tuned and tweaked and de-typo'd.

And that's not a new form for credits... just wanted to fit it on one page, so compacted everything a bit :(

Oh, and yes, they will be expanded, but not for a bit. Going to Time, maybe Space from Ancient Arcana, and maybe the Gish spells before then probably. I will probably do the Gish spells next as people are bothering me for them. Spells aren't why most people are here, but I think they can add to a lot of tables, and I make them anyway, so just figured I'd publish 'em :)

Yeah, Fling probably needs to be scaled down. I think Fling was a 2nd level spell when I wrote it, and probably didn't scale it down enough when moving it to 1st level (I might move it back to 2nd level). Point well taken though, and I think I will make it large or smaller.

I absolutely love this. Gravity manipulation is definitely something that's been sorely missing, and these fit the bill perfectly. I've actually just been looking for something like this so your timing is almost psychic! Two questions though: I feel like Fling might be a bit too powerful at the range it has. 60ft range for an additional 30ft movement is a lot of "safe space." Its a bit niche of a situation, but if you can find a wall thats 20 ft away thats damage on top of that. Overall it gives a lot of control power to any target for a 1st level spell. since you can use it to pull your allies out of the fire by flinging their melee combatant away, or flinging the enemy into usually abundant death traps. Dialing the range back to 30ft, 15ft, or maybe even touch would bring a lot of that back in. Also, I know since its gravity manipulation it shouldn't *really* matter, but I feel size should play a part. Kind of seems weird for a 1st level spell to bee able to move something the size of an ancient dragon. Maybe making it limited to large creatures and increasing distance and size with spell level? Secondly, are you planning on expanding these further? These are awesome and I'd love to see what a 6th or 7th level gravity spell looks like! Or rather just more in general, whatever the level!
