Defensive Spells: The Best Offense is Not Being Turned into a Frog

An iteration of an idea contributed by a patron that wanted to see more interesting defensive spells - beyond the counterspell and shield, so to speak. I'm not quite sure I'm there, but these are the ones that came out interesting enough for me to continue testing and eventually roll into another future idea.

The idea with these spells are spells that serve a more interesting defensive purpose - advanced Wizard dueling if you will.

At the root of the design problem for spells is that the # of spells a character has does not increase just because you write more spells, so spells have to be an interesting option that both bring something new to the table without leaving gapping hole in a spell list due being overly niche.

The goal of each of these spells is to have a defensive purpose, but to have a secondary purpose. In a magic duel, controlling vision is one of the key factors as almost all spells require you to actually see the character; this means there's actually quite a few options (such as Darkness and Fog Cloud) that often get overlooked as way to shut down a lot of magic (or at least force iteration of it, like holding spells until you can see them, but that in turn takes concentration, etc).

Anyway, I figured I would share these. Going to have some more spells coming soon of a slightly more... nefarious bent. One of my players has decided to read a forbidden tome of evil magic so... :)
