Warsmith: Artifical Strength

I realized I have a more systematic way to get feedback on things, so... a poll.

Warsmith Artificial Strength, yay, nay, or maybe?

Comments

So I am going to change more than just this, but what do people think of the following: Artificial Strength: While wearing your gauntlet, your maximum Strength ability score is 22. While wearing your gauntlet, as an action, you can dedicate some of your intelligence to fully controlling the power of the gauntlet and reduce your current and maximum Intelligence score to increase your current Strength ability score by the same amount. You can end this at any time, and it automatically ends if you remove your gauntlet. Is this better? Too finicky? Right direction but not there yet? Terrible?

I have some issues with the changes but, on the whole, I actually like the Artificial Strength feature and the intelligence and strength boosting upgrades. At first I was a bit concerned because you removed the innate strength boost that the armor used to give, but it seems like Sentient Armor is meant to fill this gap, and then Iron Muscle replaces Powered Limbs (but two levels later). My biggest issue is with all the prerequisites. It’s now quite expensive to get a projector or capacitor as a strength based Warsmith. Actually, despite the Virtual Interface upgrade it seems like it’ll be more difficult now to get a balanced strength/intelligence build. On the other hand the prerequisites do make it more clear what the intended progression paths are, so that’s something. I’d say keep Artificial Strength itself as is but just clean up the upgrades a bit.

I will let the poll run out, but I think it's likely I will scrap it from the feedback so far. I'll consider if i can think up something better, but I think this is one of those ideas where I think I've been more clever than I have been. This is why polls and feedback can helpful :) Will read further feedback and thoughts, but it seems we are back to the drawing board this time. This is sort of my last chance to make a big change to how Warsmith works as I don't think there will be another big change after 2.0, so I think I was reluctant to pass up giving it another pass, but overall I think this might have been too big a change; I focused on mechanically solving the problem, but that's not going to help if it leaves people feeling its a thematic miss.
