July Status Update - the Pipeline and What is In It
Added 2019-07-02 04:46:18 +0000 UTCJust wanted to update where things are at; updates have been a bit sporadic, but things march along. Unfortunately I didn't get much of a chance to test/make D&D stuff last weekend, which has pushed out a few items.
The current rough status of things are as follows:
- Artificer 2.0 was supposed to be on Patreon (last) Friday and Reddit on Monday (today)... obviously that didn't quite happen. Currently planning on it will have the patreon version in the next few days, and on Reddit next Monday. This will include the Fleshsmith; delays are mostly due to wanted to do more play-testing on new features and get more feedback from actual play-testing, as the initial feedback was more mixed than expected, I want to take the time and be more careful about what is being added and removed to make sure it plays well and makes sense to both new and veteran players of the class.
- The Expanded Toolbox will probably update about a week after the Artificer 2.0 is done; it will not have a new subclass yet to replace Fleshsmith, but if you have candidates, feel free to let me know.
- The focus of the Expanded Toolbox will be generate/replace all the updates the that moved to the main document -> update Runesmith -> potential new subclass.
- Psion's next update with the Kinetics Discipline will be the next general item after that; may or may not come with a new subclass at this point. A few people are waiting for this, so please know that it's on my radar, it's just queued after Artificer and Artificer has been running longer than expected.
- If Psion gets a new subclass, it will probably be for the Projection/Shaper/Metacreativity branch.
- There are two Warlord subclasses on the deep back burner right now - a Psionic Warlord (Battlemind) and the magic Warlord (which may be two ideas at this point). Neither of those are particularly close - we might get one or both this month, but no promises unless they are requested.
- We will see an update on Crafting soon, but don't get hopes up too much, I'm still in the process of tossing around ideas to see what the levers of the system are.
- There is a fairly big project that will be coming to a patreon post soon, around alternate character levels based on racial levels; it's something like a Prestige Class system, intended to allow players to better play things like Dragons. This has been a Noble tier patron request for a few months, so is something I've been working on in the background, but will be an on going project. I expect that we'll see the first few of here this month.
- I know it's been awhile since the compendium updated; this is because I haven't had many new subclasses, and what I want to do with in terms of more advanced formatting, I've been having trouble with (I cannot quite figure out to make the Table of Contents; there is a GMBinder feature that makes them, but does not seem to work, likely because it's too long, but not sure). I will probably do a Compendium update next month as by then we should have two new subclasses for it, and it probably makes more sense as this month is sounding like it has a lot of stuff to do.
- Speaking subclasses; there are probably two new subclasses coming this month, but no promises yet.
Ultimately the Artificer is taking a bit longer than expected as after some of the initial rounds of feedback I decided I need to playtest more of my ideas more thoroughly and wait for more playtesting feedback. This is a good thing, I think, as there is no good reason to be hasty with the update, but I feel from an outside prospective it looks like I am sitting my chair spinning in circles, because it is a lot slower, as for some reason people do not play D&D everyday :)
If I owe you an update on something or you want an update on something, always feel free to message me. I try to get back to all messages eventually, but sometimes I miss stuff, so it's always better to just make sure I am aware that I need to follow up on something.
If you made it to the end without skipping... well, I'm sorry. By now you should know that I ramble quite a bit :)
I want to take this chance to say how much I appreciate that you're all here though; not at the end of this post, but here on patreon in general! The patreon has garnerned more support than I could ever have imagined for sharing D&D content - I love hearing about all ways people are having fun with it!

I'm interested on how the possible Psion kinetic subclass will work! it fits perfectly for a character ill be playing as in an upcoming campaign you have any notes on your plans for it?
