patreon

Holy shit there's a Hundred of you.

I just noticed the patron count is over a hundred, and thought I needed to have a sophisticated and eloquent response to that.

...in all seriousness, I'm as close to  s̶p̶e̶e̶c̶h̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ textless as I, a person that blathers too much in little text boxes, gets.

I never imagined in a thousand years this patreon would get a hundred supporters, let alone in 6 months. It is slowly changing how I think about what I do, and it certainly motivates me to keep working on making more D&D stuff for more people. I love that people have fun playing D&D, and I enjoy that I have a small part in making more fun in the world.

I should probably have had some sort of plan for this or some way to say thanks. I don't. I am entirely unprepared in how to say thanks to all hundred of you glorious folks, but I'll think about it.

Some people have asked me to do a "Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour"-esque stream; for those that didn't follow those, it's basically just a live-real-time-design stream with feedback and thoughts from the chat. I think it's an interesting idea - I suspect a lot of people have a Happy Fun Hour shaped hole in the heart; I am certainly no Mike Mearls, but it is an idea, though I know literally nothing about streaming, so I'm a long way from saying that's a thing that would happen, but if it's something people are interested in, let me know. I really cannot imagine that audience for this would be more than like... four people... but maybe that's still worth doing, or maybe I am totally wrong given that I figured "like four people" would also be the number of patreon supporters.

Another thing people want is a Discord, but again, I have no idea if this is something a few people want, or a lot of people want, or what that would really involve, and I barely know how to log into Discord, let alone the details of having my own Discord. But let me know if this is a thing people want.

People have asked about me running a patreon D&D game, but I don't think that's quite possible yet. This is something I would love to do someday if it proves feasible, but this is probably not something I can do with my current schedule, and I have literally zero savvy with running a game online... not to mention I make no promises that I am any form of genius DM, but if this something you think sounds interesting in the long term, you can let me know.

I'm a little hesitant to set up a poll, as I'm not sure I can commit to anything yet, but feel free to voice your ideas of what you think an interesting thing would be. I guess what I'm saying is the "the future is more content like you've been getting, but if there are cool things you want, be sure you let me know you want them, so I c̶a̶n̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶d̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶  I mean consider doing them in the future".

Anyway... back to the point... thank you all so much! I really do appreciate your support, and it's just so cool to have a community of people having fun playing D&D to contribute to :)

I think that might be an interesting idea either way. I think I'm going to try to make a Server as, if I understand it correctly, a server can be attached to reward tiers, and that seems like a good idea, but it may prove too hard, so I'll keep this option in mind! I'll keep people posted on the progress. I'll be experimenting with this over the next few days, I know basically nothing about Discord, so... learning curve.

I'm really happy to see all of the updates and success that you've had here! If it at all helps you on the Discord topic, I have created a Discord server for GMB, and have not added any users because I don't know how best to use it since many people get GMB help on the DoMT discord. But maybe an idea would be to open it up to people like you who publish content, giving you a dedicated channel of your own to discuss your content. I'm no discord expert, so maybe it's more ideal for you to setup your own. lmk if you want to chat more! Again, congrats on the support!!

Thanks! :)
