How should the Psion handle Kinetics?

A popular branch of Psionics is Kinetics. We have already seen Telekinetics, but there is a lot more to do with energy manipulation: Pyrokinetics, Cyrokinetics, and Electrokinetics being popular options.

The more I've worked on this and talked to various people, the more I feel like three disciplines might better fit what some people want to do with it, but as I am not making more than 3 of them (Fire, Ice, Lightning) theming them will somewhat restrict the type of elemental energy it can wield, and of course, 3 new disciplines is a lot of added document length and complexity, so I wanted to pose the question to you all here.

Let me know what you think!

My vote has to be for one malleable discipline for the elements. It keeps bloat down since you're not having to make three new disciplines, and it helps with balance since they'll all have the same primary structure. Building extra specialization into it through Talents also allows players to make more of their own mechanical choices for the "flavor" of their Psion, without forcing them down one route: maybe you're a Psion that devotes several Talents to mastery the three elements, maybe you're a Psion that pursues a single elements, or maybe you're a Psion that uses your Talents to become a more well-rounded master of Psionics. Plus, we've spoken before about how more Invocation style mechanics are something 5e could use, so I'm all for giving the Psion even more.

I’m kinda against going into that design space in general (look at the Pathfinder Kineticist class to see how much design space that concept can fill!). If it is a truly desired concept, I’d prefer to see it only take up one discipline.
