So with the Psion 1.2 rolling out, we are going to start crunching on these Psionic Subclasses. I don't think all classes will get a Psionic Subclass, but we will see probably quite a few of them. These will all be included in the Psionic document, but will not require it directly.
We will be seeing some changes from what we say with the Soul Knife monk in that it will be least directly dependant on the Psion, but rely on the Psion for Psionic Expansion - if you want to play this subclass, it should play perfectly fine on it's own. If you want to delve deeper into Psionics with the Psionic feats, it will require the Psion document as that's what those will tie into.
This allows me to have a more wide grab bag for these psionic dabbler classes, rather than full fat features of the Psion, but will all feature a resource that ties into Psi Points - in this case, literally psi points. I considered the psi point scaling, but ultimately decided it felt better to use a scaling very close to battle master, rather than trying to emulate a short rest 1/3 caster. I currently feel dipping 3 into Psychic Fighter slows down your progression enough in psi points per turn usage, psionic mastery, and psyonic talents that additional penality on psi point scaling is unnecessary to prevent multiclass abuse here, while taking Psion levels from fight heavily reduces your hit points, attack progression, etc, but this something I will keep an eye on. The powers are not so out rageous that even if they got 5-10 psi pionts from a heavy multiclass, I don't think there would be severe issues considering the power they are giving up. This is an unusual multiclass integration though, so I will continue to review it.
We will see a revamp of the Soul Knife soon...
