Bard - College of Requiems

The first of three eventual Bard College, we have a mournful, dark and edgy one to start off.

Building up a mournful harmony, they grow stronger the longer the requiem continues.

This was based off a patreon request (for a death bard :) )

This is quite different; I rarely see Bards use it out of combat besides for out of combat checks (i.e. unlocked a door and the like). I've updated to v1.1 as many people did not like the departure from general Bard design the original was. I think it's shame as I think the default use of Bardic is one of those things that is sort of elegant, but I think the newer version is a better fit as a Bard subclass compared to the others.

Obviously it may differ from game to game, but our bards normally give them out prior to battle. We don’t see them used in battle very frequently.

I'm not sure how it seems like a lot of extra work - in general, you are going to be using Bardic Inspiration fairly often anyway. I may extend the time a soul lingers, but I feel that becomes sort of hard to track. The other option is to make it an alternate use of Bardic Inspiration rather than a rider on the effect (which is what I originally did) but I feel that works less well, as you'll rarely be able to use Bardic Inspiration as Bardic Inspiration - but in that case it can be signficantly more powerful as it's spending your Bardic. I don't know; I don't like that version as well after having tried it out, but that might the more Bard design way to do it looking at other bard 3 abilities. Always appreciate thoughts and feedback, seems like in general people don't like Requiem's Call, and that's the main feature of this Bard, so it'll probably go back to the drawing board for the time being.

I like the idea thematically, but Requiem's Call seems..weird? Spend a Bardic Inspiration, and get 1 soul around you. Then you can keep it doing every round to get more souls (Cha Mod max), but if you go more than one round without using Bardic Inspiration, they all go away? I suppose it works better once you get to level 5 and get your BI points back on a short rest, but it seems like a LOT of work to turn BI into a short rest cooldown to get a maximum of 20 extra points of healing or damage.
