Goal Reached! Heart of the Artificer's Workshop Adventure? Updates! Polls! Schedules! Timelines! Oh my that is a long title and longer post!
Added 2019-09-24 21:55:40 +0000 UTCGoal Reached! ̶
w̶e̶l̶l̶, ̶c̶r̶a̶p̶ I mean... wow! That is awesome. And... much quicker than I expected, but we have hit 125 patrons, so a deal's a deal! :)
The final title of the Adventure is still pending; it will be something like "The Heart of the Artificer's Workshop" but I may use a proper noun based on if I name the Artificer who's workshop it is in the title :)
The exact level range of the adventure, I'm not sure yet. It will be intended as a one-shot or drop in adventure, written somewhat setting agnostically for Homebrew worlds. It will not specifically require my version of the Artificer, or any Artificer at all, but may have some neat tie ins for it. It will come with some custom loot, some custom monsters, and hopefully be a lot of fun. The idea is in part a way to introduce what Artificer can be your players and setting, in part because I think its a setting idea with a lot of potential fun. It won't be a "fun house" dungeon, but due to the nature of being an Artificer's workshop, it's likely you'll see some your fair share of oddities there... all with a central mystery that lies at the heart of this abandoned workshop... :)
For those that are concerned about... everything else I have promised... that's a fair concern. With respect to that, I'm not going to give you a "I'll have this published by X" date. This probably won't be coming next month. I'll spend some time on this, and in the long run, take some time off work to work on it (...and probably the other stuff I do in life). I would expect it to be a few months though. At this point, I do not know if i will commission art for it. I would like to, but I don't know a ton about where to start with that. I'll keep posted on that.
The lucky 125th patron that made it a reality will get a short cameo/namesake NPC, as will anyone in the Noble tier on patreon. I will reach out to you for ideas of how you'd like to be featured! The correspondent in a series of letters the players can find? A PC of yours at the local wateringhole with some sage advice? Don't expect too much here, it's a short adventure and these will be short references meant to be a fun and slightly interactive part of the background :D

What is going on in KibblesTasty Land?
- Expanded Toolbox 2.0 has been chugging along. Fleshsmith, Runesmith, and endlessly updating more content are all that's left. Wait... that third one seems a bit off... Further, a new subclass (funded by a very generous member of the patreon peerage) is coming to the Expanded Toolbox in October - while I can't reveal too much yet, I can at least take the wraps off the name... Cursesmith! Delving darker magic, these will be a new breed of Artificer indeed... (...and now some of you can probably guess who requested it! :D )
- A little after it is done as the feedback settles in, Artificer 2.0.2 will launch incorporating the playtest from it into the main document, and the Expanded Toolbox will backfill with more content (hopefully not more playtest content as much as just... weird stuff!)
- Warlord 1.3.2: I don't think a new subclass is quite ready to roll out, but it is overdo for fixes and tweaks. This will happen soon.
- Psionic Subclasses. We need at least one more subclass before we start the march toward Psion 1.3. Psion has shaped up a lot over the last 2 patches, but still has a lot of room for improvement. The numbers aren't as tight as they could be, with both more highs and lows than I'd like, and there is growing demand for more subclasses, there's a lot of room for stuff here.
- Crafting still exists. Yup. Ultimately I realized that working on this was going to be the death of me, as I wasn't putting out new content, and I wasn't confident it was going to be good. I will still release this, but I'm not going to let it take over all of my making stuff time. There is just a lot of stuff I need to try, playtest, and try again. I have some great people helping me out with testing the proto-versions of this system, and we'll see it eventually, but not going to give a hard date right now.
- Lineage Levels - many of you probably don't know too much about this, but this is a Patreon noble (25$ tier) ongoing project... for a long time. Eventually it will see the light of day, but has undergone a few major revisions after some playtesting.
Where do we go from here?
...well, upward? I guess? I am going to put the next goal a little higher; I think 150. Not because I am evil, but because I need time to make sure I am not over promising. What's the next goal? Well, fine folks, that is up to you.
My first goal for this patreon was the Psion and there was a reason for that - I was getting asked my a lot of folks if I would do the Psion, but it was a big project and I wasn't sure how much interest there was.
Well, we've reached a point where a similar dilemma has arisen - a lot of people would like to see me revise Warlock or Ranger, and that sounds like a lot of work, but is also something I'd have some ideas for. The other idea would be to embark in the grand journey of a new class once more. These goals are not mutually exclusively, but each would be a big piece of time.
So if I'm going to use the next goal to help map out what my future (2-3 months from now, if I'm being inappropriately optimistic about patreon growth) project will be, making it a poll between these three seems the best bets for the future.Very briefly... what are these?
- Warlock. Many of you can probably guess what I'd do with the Warlock. I look at evocations and I think... well, that's an upgrade system... if only there was actual... choices. A change to the evocation tax system. A change to some of their core features. A change to how some of their subclasses work, and and overall to the Pact system.
- Ranger. Probably the more rewritten class in D&D5e, I've thus far resisted the temptation to toss my hat into this particularly ring, but many have asked, and, of course, I have ideas. Better dual wielding, cleaned up theme, and overall a transition to a broader concept - make things like Monster Hunter and Horizon Walker fit into this chassis better by making it less of a half-druid. A striker, a martial with a bag of magic. Specialized in specializing. Fixing the bonus action blockade.
- New Class. Wisdom full caster. The umbrella for Shamans, Witches and more. Hexes, rituals, and spirits abound. Would start with 3 subclassess (Shaman, Witch, and 1 more that doesn't have a firm name yet). Would have to come with quite a few new spells, but not an absurd amount.

And last but not least (and, in fact, most)... thank you!
It's always a little... I dunno, hard to figure out exactly what to say. You all are the best and I really appreciate the support. Above everything, I hope all this content is making it to vivid imaginations everywhere and giving it just that much more fun and flair. Happy dice rolling, awesome people!

Awesome! This is so great, glad you've reached this goal! Honestly I enjoy using your work so much I'm just glad to see more coming! Also I'm going with the full wisdom caster vote. As much as the other ideas seem cool a new class has such potential compared to a rework at least imo.

2019-09-24 23:03:05 +0000 UTCWell, you may or may not have seen the two feats I just put for Dual Wielding: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/d86g67/two_equalish_and_opposite_feats_for_light_weapons/ That is a preview of a new project for more feats I'm working on. While I don't think they solve dual wielding, I think they are an interesting part of it. In my home games, I deploy a slightly different solution - removing the bonus action from the offhand attack with the Dual Wield Feat: Pro - it works better for Rangers. Cons - the Dual Wielder feat still blows. I will be including more about my solutions to fighting feats and some of the tweaks I use in the upcoming updates of my feats (as part of the point of those feats is to make more ways of stabbing, slashing, and bashing to be viable. As far as the Ranger specific solution to dual wielding, I can make any promises as I don't 100% know what I'd do without doing it, but if a flash of brilliance strikes me, I won't withhold it! Other than that, hopefully the feats and tweaks coming will be of some help regardless of what the next project is!

2019-09-24 22:14:53 +0000 UTCCan I make a selfish request for you to release your suggested changes for dual wielding separately? I've got a ranger revision I'm happy with (the Hunter), and our group has some homebrew tweaks to dual wielding we like, but I'd love to see your take on that specific 5e annoyance.
