First Look: Pact of the Tempest - A warlock who heralds the storm...

A patreon request subclass, it's still in its early days, but wanted to share it out with you all you.

Anyway, as always, let me know any thoughts and feedback :)

Gust is a cantrip, so it doesn't take a spell slot. The main thing it's allowing you to do is (a) cast the spell (as you don't normally know it) and (b) cast it as a bonus action. As it's a cantrip, it wouldn't prolong the storm. the storm is not supposed to be a fully sustained feature at low levels; but is intended to mean you get a lot more more mileage out of your limited spells.

So at storm level 1. You can cast Gust as a BA - two questions: (Edit: nevermind) Does this increase your storm level by one, negating the drop at the end of your turn? If so thats a neat way to regulate the storm levels. Does it use a pact/spell slot? If so that's not good at all. Anyways I love the theme and execution overall, good job!

Came here to make more or less the same comment. It seems strange to me to build a Warlock feature around continuous use of spell slots when the class itself is designed to give them limited but short-rest-refreshing slots. One solution I can think of might be to have the storm be maintained by cantrips - but I suspect that'd end up wildly overpowered.

I absolutely ADORE the flavor of this Subclass. My biggest criticism is the lack of reliability in the Building Storm until level 14. At the absolute most, a Warlock will get 3 turns of it at level 11 and only 2 turns before then. That being said, I'm not sure how to remedy that and keep the rest of the Sublcass the same. Maybe you could concentrate on it like a spell to prevent it from fading? Maybe you could split the level 14 feature into 1 large feature and a slightly smaller one at an earlier level? Like, give just the ability to raise the level as an action at level 6, but the rest stays at level 14?
