Friday Arena Playtest

An exciting update to Friday's stream, we'll be running a playtest stream! This will be consist of me and 2 volunteers taking on an Arena created by my good D&D friend, The Arena Guy (TAG).

What's an Arena? It's a game mode created by TAG that is essentially a combat challenge mode of D&D. It's great fun for many, and it's a great way to do some combat playtesting.

For the first run, it will be 3 challengers, which means I need to find 2 brave souls willing to tackle the Arena with me.

Here's what you need to Volunteer:

• Available from 10 pm GMT/6pm EDT/3 pm PDT for ~3 hours on Friday May 15th. Please only volunteer if you are reasonably sure you can make that and stay for about 3 hours, preferably a little longer just to be safe.
• The ability to play on roll20 with Voice Chat through Discord. You don't need to know Roll20 (I don't!), but if you know nothing about it, please try to brush up on the basics beforehand (I will be). I recommend this video by another D&D friend, The Dungeon Coach.
• You do not need a video, just a mic and the ability to hear.
• The want to play an Arena playtest game!

Here's what you are volunteering for!

• This is an Arena mode, not normal D&D. It is effectively just combat. You don't need make a backstory, and you don't need to be in character, though we'll probably have a bit of fun here and there. This isn't a story driven session with a plot - it's just nonsense fighting monsters in a pit. The goal is to have fun, roll some virtual dice, and see how things play out.
• The hope is to Playtest my stuff, TAG's Arena System, and have fun.
• This will be streamed! By me and maybe TAG. This isn't a big audiance, but you will be on stream - by volunteering you agreeing to do nothing that'd get me or TAG in trouble!

Character Creation

•  You will need to make level 1 character and be prepared to quickly level it through levels 1-5, so have a plan. We may not make it level 5, and we might make it 6 or beyond (unlikely in time) but at least have a solid 1 to 5 plan.
• No backstory or character info is really necessary besides their class. I'll have a bit of fun here and there in character, but this isn't a normal RP Story Driven Plot... it's just some heroes fighting monsters in a pit for reasons they cannot fathom.
• A very limited pool of magic items exist in this system. Don't plan around anything fancy.
• You can use: PHB, SCAG, XGE, MToF, Volo's, or any KibblesTasty class or subclass. Feel free to reach out to me with questions. If you want to use a race or other system of mine, we'll talk. For now we are focused on the classes and subclasses :)
• I will play be joining you guys with a PHB-made character to serve as our playtest control group :D
• You level up after every fight, but you do not automatically take a short or long rest - you can recover resources via them by spending the points you are awarded - we'll walk you through it as we play (and by we I mean TAG, because this is my first time playing it too!)

Here's How You Volunteer:

• REPLY TO THIS POST THAT YOU WANT IN! Leave a comment telling me you'd like to join during the day on Wednesday. I will select two volunteers tomorrow night in around 24 hours 11 pm EDT/8 pm PDT
• If there is more than 2 volunteers, I'll pick patrons first. If there's more than 2 patron volunteers, I'll pick randomly. If there are less than 2 volunteers, I'll draft some of my players to fill the empty spots. If you miss out, don't worry. There will be more things like this in the future! And probably with less tech issues than this one will have...
• If we do these in the future, I will come up with a more complicated weighting system based on if you've gotten picked before, patron tier, and other stuff, but as this is sort of short notice, for this time it'll just be a random draw. 
• You do not have to make a character unless you are selected! Though you are welcome to if you want to.

We will almost certainly do more of these of these, or more things like this in the future. I cannot promise TAGs time (though I can hope for it!) but they will be some sort of future run like this in the future, so if you miss this one, you'll have a shot at those :)

I will start the Friday Stream about half an hour and work on stuff and hang out a bit before the Arena starts, and than we will start the Arena run at my usual stream start time.
