Assassin (Revised) - It's time to teach Rogue's one trick pony a few new tricks.

Assassin has always been a popular archetype with some major flaws. Chief among the flaws is that its main feature, Assassinate, relies on surprise - something that you will rarely in get in a party, meaning the Assassin tends to shine the most in solo play... something that doesn't come up that often.

I had a few things I wanted to do - I wanted to give them some new approaches to their assassination. Garrote represents one of those, and is an item I've wanted to stat out for a bit - it's generally subpar with some niche uses for anyone else, but an excellent tool for an assassins silent take downs.

I also wanted to clean up the strange emphasis on social impersonation - many assassins just want to sneak in the dark and stab things, so I wanted to provide some branching options there (I also dislike things that remove rolls from the game entirely, in general).

As always, let me know if you have any thoughts or feedback :)

Sorry, bad habit to start flipping through other books before finishing the document. Thanks lol

They don't exist outside of this doc - this is adding them. They are just a weapon with the special property listed there (albeit a somewhat special special property as it changes how the weapon works :) Essentially they are just a grapple-on-hit weapon that reduces the targets hp per turn and mutes them. Sort of like a net, though they must be maintained and an attempt to break it is a contested grapple rather than vs. a DC (and they don't restrain, but do mute). The idea was to give a stealth takedown weapon that was useable by anyone, but only really effective vs. weak targets or niche uses cases by people other than assassins (who specialize in their use).
