Crafting 0.4 Preview!

Hey folks, I've been promising an update on Crafting, so here is the 0.4 document:

Everything beyond this point is just rambling :)

It is still work in progress, but may be more useful than the 0.3 most folks are using; the big change is that it pulls all the materials to the start, and refactors loot and gathering into combined loot and harvesting tables.

There was a lot of confusion about harvesting multiple reagents and everything using its own system, and this brings it all together (or at least is the first step of it).

The reason this is a bit late is I've been doing  massive undertaking this last weekend to port the whole system into a spreadsheet backend, and that's taking a lot of time (especially as I sort had to relearn vlookups and all that stuff I had largely purged from my brain)

The prices have always had an unlaying formula to them, but with the new approach everything will be given by actual formulas (though still rounded off and slightly weighted). This will help avoid inconsistencies and errors, and at some point I'll make a copy of the sheet version for folks here (as some folks would probably find that easier to use, and it'll be easier to make your own items with access to the math of the system).

And, of course, have it in this format will make it easier to make the full digital version, and makes updating it far easier (as changes automatically propagate through the system). This is something that I was planning to do eventually.

With that said, Blacksmithing and Alchemy have been fully converted - you'll see that almost every item there has been slightly tweaked in those two branches due to a combination of more strictly applying the formula values, and tweaks made on feedback so far (as those systems have gotten the most).

I'll be updating the rest of the systems as I pull them into the spreadsheet back end and recalculate everything (plugging in the feedback so far in the process).

Update Cannons Loaded

Going to be a lot of updates this week; I'll try to have an update here or in the Draft Notifications channel of Discord pretty much everyday this week, there's a lot coming down the pipeline. Tomorrow should be subclasses as I start getting things ready for the first kickstarter playtest/preview packet at the end of the month.

Thanks folks, as always, I really appreciate the support and all the feedback that is pouring in from folks using it - as useful as the feedback is, I also just love to see how many people are using it and loving it... that makes me super happy :)

Not sure if you want proofreading notes at this point but I've also noticed that on page 12 the first table has "Equivalent Monetary Value" as a column heading rather than "Equivalent Gold Value" which seems to be the standard elsewhere. Also on page 71 Composite bow and Viol are missing a number in the check column, and subsequent columns in that row are off by 1 due to this

Noticed a small spelling & grammar issue: on page 11 the special materials have a "harvesting difficult" should that be "harvesting difficulty"? The bullet point below also reads as "If the difficult modifier is not meet" rather than "If the difficulty modifier is not met".
