End of August Update! Inventor 2.2.1, Psion 1.5.2, 1000 patrons! Editing! KS Book Updates!

1,000 patrons!
First of - holy damn, folks. 1,000 patrons! I won't get too sappy (particularly as that'll probably dip at that 1st of the month as it usually does :D ) but that's a huge milestone. It's also a huge goal, as the goal for that milestone was to get an editor on helping clean up some of the content... and that's in progress!
You may have seen the Warlord got an editing pass recently; the editor that helped out there (Gabriel Russell) is currently chewing through the Spell Compendium, and oh boy has he rustled up a lot of fixes! In addition to that, my good friend The Arena Guy is crunching away on the monster section of the KS Compendium, so I'm excited to that soon we'll be seeing more goodness then every before!
On the sappy note I said I wouldn't get into... when I parted ways with my day job, I made getting to 1,000 patrons this year my goal to keep doing this full time. I cannot believe that not only did the patreon make it, but with a few months to spare! I love making D&D content for you folks, and I have so much I cannot wait to share more stuff coming up.
Inventor 2.2.1
This version is pretty much the standalone version of the KS drafts version, with the latest updates. For sanity, the GMBinder version will fall behind for a bit. I do plan to update that, but not until the book is probably ready, as I'm trying to get that finished.
On the brightside, the PDF has a much more robust table of contents (download from google drive to view it on chrome/acrobat/your pdf reader of choice it to use the bookmarks along the side!)
Fleshsmith
- Perfection of Form can calculate the DC of it's upgrade abilities using Constitution instead of Intelligence (their choice).
- Added Brimstone Bladder back in (updated).
Cursesmith
- Each Cursed Path now gets a list of bonus spells known.
- Curse Eater is clarified to that it adds +1 temp hp for each cursed item you've consumed with the ability.
Runesmith
- Runic Knight is no longer slowed by wearing heavy armor that has one of their runes marked on it.
- Channel Magic now allows you to cast range of self spells if you were on the spot of a creature with one of your marked items.
- Mark of Shield reduced to Unrestricted Tier (renamed; the upgrade that allows you to cast shield). -Surging Flare added. -Gravity Brand added (5th level)
- Rune Magic now allows you to cast 1 spell granted for free, split into Rune Magic and Greater Rune Magic. Rune Magic reduced to 5th level.
- Runic Aegis reduced to 5th level
- Mystic Flare reduced to 5th level.
- Greater Rune Magic added at 9th.
- Painted Bulwark added at 9th.
- Reckless Flare now only disables the active effects of runes, not the destroying them entirely.
Relicsmith
- Ingenious Reliquary -> Melee Weapon can now be activated as part of the attack action (reducing the need for a bonus action, and making it work better with TWF).
- Path of Penance revised. Now incorporates Conferral of Penance to basic path, but the temporary hit points it used to grant have been combined into Burning Penance, making it better value.
- Reach of Justice and Reach of Conviction have been combined into a single upgrade.
Psion 1.5.2
Like the Inventor draft, this is largely the KS Draft version ported to standalone version. This is will be the basis of the standalone version going forward, and same deal; for the time being (up through until editing is done) this will be the updated version. The GMBinder version will be updated, but trying to maintain both was too much (as editing changes had to be mirrored by me).
Psion
- You can activate Primordial Aspect as an action (as well as automatically when you deal damage).
- Elemental Form clarified to use the mechanic of shapechange.
- Projection: Added Astral Swap talent back in (it will interact with Psionic Synthesis when that returns in a new way, but the basic ability is no longer dependent on it).
- Projection: Life Link talent added.
- Projection: Unlimited Imagination talent added (allowing you to select two Boundless Imagination options when manifesting your construct).
- Telepathy: Empathy now has a limited range if you are not telepathically linked to the target. Empathy now works on all damage types.
- Telepathy: Reflected Agony no longer requires empathy.
- Transposition: Phase Rift range is now correctly "Self"
- Pyschokinesis: Elemental Emotions no longer effects ability checks (as there was very few cases this would apply). Fire now effects Constitution saving throws instead of Strength & Charisma.
- Consumption: Devouring Darkness (new spell) added to 5th level.
- Precognition: Glimpsed Future no longer grants the increased/reduced damage of Seeing when used as a bonus action on yourself.
- Precognition: Fear removed from the spell list.
- Nullification: Iron Templar now grants shield proficiency. Now allows you to use the somatic components with a hand holding a weapon.
- Elemental Penetration: Now works on spells as well as powers
The KS Draft
I don't see any good reason to not share the KS Draft here, and it's my KS, my patreon, and my draft so... that's what I'm going to do :D
Currently standing at 306 pages the skeleton is almost entirely complete! There's a few major pieces to flesh out (Feats, Class Toolbox), and a ton of editing to go (finally, in progress!), but it's actually getting there, and I couldn't be more happy.
Change Log:
- Thunder Pulse increased to 4d8 thunder damage.
- College of Thunder now gets Thunder Punch instead of Thunder Wave. Thunder Wave is already a Bard spell, so they can still get that, and Thunder Punch just sort of fits their... aesthetic. I think Thunder Wave is still a more logical spell, but the class list provides them spells they cannot otherwise pick as priority, and they can already get Thunderwave.
- Tech Knight: Chainblade now deals 4d4 damage with it's special propety (up from 3d4). It should be noted you don't add your modifier to this damage, so 4d4 damage is quite close to the damage an attack would normally deal... it just automatically hits. This makes it more universally useful to activate the property; it will still do slightly less damage as it doesn't apply things like Dueling, but no longer will fall as far behind, making it a value added proposition in more cases.
- Plane Touched: Phase Out Clarified, Planar Collision Ice and Fey clarified (ice does not, in fact, permanently stun creatures!... unless they keep failing their save!)
Upcoming Changes (Not yet in draft):
- Wizard Order of Creation familiar buffed to Wizard Level + Spell casting modifier temporary hit points.
- Ancient Intelligence Warlock Ancient Invocations added: Added Battle Drones, Data Bank, Dispatch Relay, Neural Link, Personal Shield
- Mind Reaper Ranger: Taste of Fear merged into Psychic Reaper. Bonus damage now 1d4 per hit (rather than 1d8 as a bonus action). New Taste of Fear temporary hit points added.
- Reaper's Intrusion reworked; now limited use (but has been heavily indirectly buffed by the merging of Taste of Fear and Psychic Reaper).
What's Next!
As noted, as we speak the spell compendium is undergoing a massive overhaul and clean up. Once that's done, I'm going to be converting it to a nice fully linked/book marked PDF form and share that out - expect that fairly soon at the $3 tier.
Playtesting the classes has been the major push over the last two weeks, and this week I'm turning my attention back to crafting to clean up the last few things and get it ready for editing. I'd expect probably an update to it in a week or so, after which it will go into editing to be the shiniest crafting system it can be :D

It is pretty likely I will put the final PDF on the patreon sometime after it has gone out to backers, either on delay or a higher tier or something. I don't know, I'm terrible at this sort of thing. Left to my own devices I would just make everything free, but that historically doesn't work as well. I will probably put it at the $5 or a new higher tier, but I'm not sure.
