The whole thing is that Gon doesn't give a damn about Komugi it's all in the way he told Pitou "get away from her and come fight me outside now." He was totally willing to let Komugi die until Pitou said "I'll do anything if you let me heal her". I love Gon's sense of morality cause it's so close to how most main characters are "supposed to act" but at the same time the small ways he acts that make him a different from other heroes and MCs.

How is it arrogant lol, in the first chapter of the manga Gon tells Mito that “Hunters aren’t weak”. Where you think he got that idea? Ging. Which is why he’s upset whenever he feels weak and has a lot of pride. He values being a hunter and doing hunter things more than himself because that’s what Ging values... There’s a lot of clear evidence

im so glad they talked about gons character. it has always been so weird to me. when I watched this show, I always thought that gon was different from other shounen MCs. usually others have the same happy, bright and impactful natures but gon always had a dark side to him that was selfish and distant. granted he is a kid and kids can be that way but there were so many moments that cuased me to think that it was just his nature. and that's scary for a mc. I agree with both of their discussions about his charcter. I honestly cant waaaaaaiiittttt for more. and they are right when they said that you cant really convice people to simply watch HXH. you need to make them watch it then add their own interpretations. this anime has SO MUCH rewatch value.

Kite was the one who set him on his journey to find his dad in the first place (though the 2011 version didn't really show that), he is someone deeply connected to his dad, and someone he shares a deeply powerful and emotional memory with him. 5 minutes can have a powerful impact on someone, especially a kid. And kite was the first real connection to his father that he had, and was almost like a father figure to him. This is the first time Gon has had someone even remotely close to him die, and not only that, but be straight up murdered by a creature that showed no remorse whatsoever, and did it for no other reason the to just see if they could. His anger is completely understandable, especially since he blames himself for what happened to kite, so a lot of this anger is really at himself, and his own inability to protect someone he cares about. Could his relationship with Kite have been handled a little better? Sure, it could have been expanded on, and really shown why he was such a huge influence on Gon, but that doesn't trivialize the situation at all. You got a little annoyed with him, I sympathized with him. On the contrast, I actually got a little annoyed with Killua during the back half of this arc.

These two are the only reactors I’ve seen have a true understanding of Gon’s character. People write him off as selfish, but it’s clearly much more than that. The subconscious lack of self-worth + focus on only what he is capable of and his pride issues because of the admiration of Ging is very, very true. It’s implied so clearly throughout the story and its tragic. Notice how every time he cries it’s because he feels inadequate

Actually, Gon is a monster like Meruem at this point. The similarites between Gon and the king are tied together by how they sat. At this point of the story Meruem is becoming more human, while Gon is becoming less human (not like he is physically becoming a monster, but that he has checked off all emotions except rage and anger.)

Prolly mostly because all Kite stuff is a little bit overdramatized.He knew him for like 5 minutes,and also saw him as a kid for like 2 minutes.....Gon is selfish and pretty much naive,to be honest he started to annoy me a little bit at the end of this arc.

Eh... not really what he said, he said "this" means nothing to you. Not that he thinks Killua doesn't care anything about him or his desires. Just that Kite, and this situation don't mean anything to him. I mean, look at it from Gon's perspective too, His bff is sitting there, completely calm, showing no emotion, while he is on the verge of a complete emotional breakdown, clearly this situation doesn't have the same emotional impact on Killua as it does on him, and he sees that. Neither one handled this situation perfectly.

I mean, the translation basically sums up what it would feel like. Your bff is sitting there going all revenge bs right now, you've worried yourself sick for a month about him, and then he tells you straight up he thinks you care for nothing about him and his desires. Killua's mental fortitude is outstanding to not breakdown right there.

He really said something like "It must be so easy since it has nothing to do with you..." It's still a god-awful thing to say to your own bff, but not quite as crushing as it may seem at first
