Secondly, although as someone who grew up listening to all kinds of his excuses, I find myself difficult in believing in him, I'm willing to retrieve my words of laziness. It's based on a popular speculation back then and I admit it's inconsiderate. Also he mentioned that he's sick many times in his author comments in Shonen Jump, and if "most people" lost faith in him, every HunterxHunter volume he drops wouldn't be at the top of every weekly sales chart.

Since he had been quite famous from early on using all kinds of excuses such as 'family trip', 'taking care of his baby', 'doing research' or 'lack of inspiration', most of people don't believe in him. But I stand corrected if there is actual evidence.

That said, HxH isn't a Deconstruction imo and they never said it was one. They suggested that some of his subversions had deconstructive elements to them.

2018-11-21 01:55:23 +0000 UTCAs sad as this episode/reaction was (my heart physically hurt in anticipation) I laughed so hard when Caleb said "Oh shut up ending!!" LOL. But this episode was so heartwarming and heartbreaking, happiness and sadness and just overall the perfect way to end Meruem and Komugi's story. It's too bad they didn't have more time together :'(

2018-11-20 23:48:21 +0000 UTCTogashi had a pretty bad schedule for a mangaka from the Yorknew to just before the palace invasion started and then he took big hiatuses during the palace invasion. He actually did this entire sequence without any hiatuses and that continued for the entirety of the next arc. It seemed he really wanted to play another game... and then another... :3 It's clear that he writes best when he takes the long breaks. He does his best to do what entertains him the most, and probably took a lot of hiatuses because he ran out of motivation at times. It's credit to him for sticking with the series for so long -- like 20 years, even when hiatuses held him back.

2018-11-20 22:48:51 +0000 UTCNow that they've watched the end of the King. I love the underlying idea, throughout this arc, that the chimera ants weren't that big of a threat. It forces down your throat how powerful and dangerous these creatures are, but every time we see the higher up officials talk to the extermination team, they lack the sense of care or fear of the situation. The idea that it took one average bomb to take them out is crazy. Its so gutsy for Togashi to completely wipe out this species, characters and conflict he had built up, with something of such little importance.

2018-11-20 22:11:27 +0000 UTCI thinks its wrong to label Togashi-sensei's writing style as deconstructionist. It demeans his ability to write his own story, with his own creativity. And if you're wondering, in an interview he said that he writes full outlines before starting arcs and he has in mind the next few arcs before writing the current one. The only aster ix, is that this arc took place over 7-8 years, with a lot of hiatuses. In another interview he said that for greed island, he set the rules and story first and then smoothly took the characters starting point to the end. Where as in Yorknew, I think he said that he wrote the story as he went relying on a rough outline. A very big event that happened in the manga (no spoiler) was decided based on his own instincts and how he felt while writing the scene.
