As someone who’s studied Chinese history and watched a bunch of Cdramas, unfortunately this isn’t my cup of tea although the author stated the show isn’t ancient China but some made up history. The show is good if you look at it without knowing how ancient harem actually functioned

If he was the emperor, she probably would not have such a casual interaction with him even for a comedy. I was confused at first until I realized you guys meant Jinshi when you were talking about the emperor.
