omg!! i forgot about the age hierarchy. that's gotta be partially why jay didn't step in, or hanbin. good insight

I agree with you that it would have been helpful if someone stepped in to mediate between K and Ni-ki but in S Korea there is a rigid hierarchy system based on age, and I don't think Jay, who was in Korean years 18 or 19, felt comfortable saying anything to K, who was 23 in Korean years. It would have been disrespectful of Jay to intervene. Enhypen did an amazing cover of I Need you with the help of Bang PD about a year ago. It is a great song!

OH good. poor jay, save him frfr

During the fight between K and Ni-Ki when they were speaking in Japanese, I'm pretty sure at that time Jay could speak/understand a little Japanese (i read somewhere that he learnt some through watching anime during his school years not sure how true that is though) so he would have been able to pick up on a few things they were saying to each other which would have made it 10x more uncomfortable! an add on - i found this from an exclusive broadcast before part 2 started, like an extended interview of the participants and the judges. Jay speaks both English and Japanese in this so he 100% for sure could understand the fight!!! heres the link :). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2StTRw-lbyQ&t=47s literally went on a full on deep dive to prove my point and make sure i didn't look like an idiot ahahahahha

he just seemed so lost and confused this entire episode and i HATE that :(

you're english is amazing!! don't even worry about it :) and your explanation makes SOOO much sense about the 'i need u' team. they did have expressions, they were just conveying a different expression than was needed for the song. i went back and watched after reading your comment and i soooooooo see that now. thank you for this insight!!!! 🙏🏻

NOOOO the talking in japanese is wayyyyy more uncomfortable. i was too busy cringing and dying to even notice the language switch up 😬 (don't get me STARTED on dna jay)

My heart hurts everytime i heard the judge critize Taki. You can see is trying really hard but his efforts aren't been seen and that breaks me. :(

Hi Hunter! I love today reaction. Yah, this episode was really stressful and awkward to watch I really like the "Fake Love" team because of the dance and the storytelling through the performance but all the team did a great job. Moreover, I just want to comment on what was said by the judge for the "I need you" team.  Even if I love my boys, and they really did great for me, but I understand some of the critics. As a dancer myself, been criticized about portraying emotions and facial expressions is usual. For a specific choreography, I couldn't express really well the message that needed to be delivered through my dancing, and i was really frustrated because even if I worked hard on it, for my teacher that was enough. So I understand their disappointment. From a "more technical" point of view, their facial expressions were incredible, but that weren't exactly portraying the message of the song. You can see in their eyes more a feeling of anger and determination to succed the perdformance, rather than fully been in the emotions. As they still portrayed it but sometime i can sense they weren't fully engaged. Those kind of "technicity" of exprssion emotion troughdancing are kind of difficult to acquire sometimes, even if you are a talented and well known artist, it's about the feeling you get from the song. After all, I think they still did a great and excellent job, the judges were harsh on them. Also, they have to remember that the contestants are people who were learning to became idol, they weren't yet! I couldn't imagine how difficult it was for the boys. The exigences for the trainee is pretty high and hard that makes me sad because we can see they're giving their all.    I love your videos , lots of love! (PS: sorry if my english isn't great but it isn't my native language)

Ahhh, I remember pausing and running away so much when I watched this episode for the first time, it was sooo uncomfortable. An interesting thing to keep in mind is that the Japanese members in Iland sometimes switch to talking in Japanese to each other. It makes the fight for the DNA team so much more uncomfortable because a lot of it was in Japanese rather than Korean, so Hanbin and Jay were prob just sitting there like what is going on rn. I’ve also heard that the conversation is much more tense than how it sounds translated into English. I wish the subtitles would tell you when they’re speaking Korean vs Japanese, sometimes you just have to try and listen for the difference in how it sounds. Also, DNA Jay is literally to this day so iconic.

he hehehe
