Body Types!

Hi everyone! The comic is still on hiatus while I focus on school, but I found some time to do some anatomy practice with the Duncan and Eddie cast!!

Something I've been trying to do with some of the newer comics is give the characters more varied body types, so this was a product of me wanting to define and explore these a bit more in a les ls constrained style! This does also break the rule I made like two years ago to never draw Eddie shirtless again, but you guys get a special treat for supporting me :)

I'm really proud of how my art has been developing outside of the comics! I've been doing a lot of life studies and animation work for school and I think it's seeping into the comic too. The first set of drawings is some more fluff of Duncan and Eddie aged up, since I was really fond of the doodles I made a few days ago on twitter. I haven't really drawn these body types super often so it was a little challenging, but I like how they turned out!!

Another really big thing I wanted to do was give Kip and Eddie more distinguishable body types! They're both sort of just lean and stiff normally, so I tried to broaden Eddie's shoulders and make him a little more stocky, while making Kip look extra tiny. Also, I wanted to give Kip top surgery and explore how that'd look on them! I've wanted to have a comic about them getting top surgery for a while, but have it be told sort of in the background? I'm fond of the idea that the comic is less about LGBTQ themes and more about the lives of queer people and I think storytelling through backgrounds is a really cool way to explore that!

I've also been drawing Duncan a bit larger lately too! He kind of wasn't very well defined before and his proportions would change a lot between comics, so I thought it'd be nice to sit down and define him. I also missed the size contrast from early comics between him and Eddie from some of the earlier comics, so I thought making him a bit heavier to bring some of that contrast a bit more would be cute (plus more body diversity!)

Mason is a weird case! I have truly no idea what their body type is, I kind of just draw them like a square. I have no idea what would be like appropriate for genderfluid folks in terms of like underwear, so I always draw Mason with their chest covered, haha! Also Phoebe is there, but I've never drawn a bra before so it looks a little awkward, but I can feel my life drawing paying off.

I don't know how interested y'all are in little posts like these, but I will do my best to continue writing stuff like this!
