Xen Divisions / Atebit Testing

I'll be honest, this week has been kind of hell lol. Not for me explicitly, but for my family. We've been going through a lot so not much progress has been made, but "not much" implies that -some-, yes?

Well, I took the time to work on the Xen HQ again, this time on Renegade.

The Xen HQ, and, Reldin Island as a whole, is divided into two sides by a massive magma lake.

I've shown this on Reborn before, but I never went into detail about things. The left side of the island is actually Paragon exclusive. Renegade players focus more on the actual main building on the right side. Some parts of it are in Paragon too, but for the most part, a majority of the building is Renegade exclusive.

Not much of the building is mapped, but there is one small part that is:

Obviously the raid on the Xen HQ will differ depending on route. The vibe is totally different as well. I think just from the vibes of both, you can kind of deduce what they are. But don't fall into the trap of expectations, I'll say that.

I'll be honest, i've been in kind of a creativity slump. I know what I want this building to be but to put it into practice has been... difficult. I have no idea why I struggle so much with building layouts lol. I think I try to make it as not boring as possible, but there's only so much you can do with gen 3 style tiles. Or maybe I'm just being a bitch baby and I need to get the creativity rolling. Maybe it's time I do some more game design research, i dunno. This actually happened to me during v10's development as well. Trying to remember what I did to get out of that slump. Perhaps it's just a matter of time?

or perhaps life these days is just so exhausting that it's hard to think clear anymore, I dunno. Does anyone else feel that way or am I being 2010 emo lmao. Either way, things are moving! I got a really difficult segment done the other day. I thought that was gonna take a whole month but I ended up finishing it in a day. So that's good :).

In other news, I did a testing segment for the new gen 2 area that happens to be a rougelike.
It had very positive feedback!

I'm curious to see how you guys will fare when you get there, but I'd like to show the other protags in their gen 2 attire. (Aevia was shown in a previous post)
