In case you didn't know, The Brigadier was one of the founders of UNIT and also a friend of The Doctor and Sarah Jane back in Classic Who where he would regularly help defend Earth. He's mentioned quite a few times in New Who. Another fun fact is that Martha was originally going to appear in this episode as a guest star similar to how she did in Series 2 of Torchwood but unfortunately the actress was unavailable due to other projects so she ended up being replaced by The Brigadier in this episode. It still works well because Sarah Jane and The Brig have history together. :)
