This is π― improvised and unpolished so bare with me, but I like how the music flows with the costume and fans. Iβm going to keep going in this direction and see where it leads me. It took me about four years total between collecting peacock feathers that were either vintage or humanly harvested mostly by myself on farms that had peacocks. Every time we pick a farm that has peacocks i spend most of my time picking up peacock feathers off of the ground. Iβm thankful to my job that it puts me in the right places at the right times. I was able to grab another box of peacock feathers from a retired farmer in the area who happens to have a few peacocks on his property. I love walking around and picking up the peacock feathers on a farm. It reminds me of being a kid and picking up chicken, chicken feathers and turkey feathers in the country and the scenery is incredible! The ostrich feather Catherine Dβlish is a classic staple in any Burlesque performers closet. Iβm really enjoying this soft smoky lavender theme this year, so Iβm sticking with it. I handmade the bra and panties and the corset was purchased as a basic corset, I did all of the embellishments myself. The dress was my dress I wore on my wedding night. I wore it for the reception and Jeremy and I both agreed that this one needs to be on stage so I feel like this is the perfect to put her on stage and see how long she lasts. Iβve already had to make a couple repairs in this dress and thereβs another repair at the top of the slit in the back that needs to be made, but I think sheβs gonna hold up pretty well. iβm really trying to use what I have and not make Burlesque about how much everything costs and how new things are but instead make it about how well I can design my costumes myself. I have a bit more time on my hands these days so thatβs how Iβve been using it. Endless sewing, crystalling and fanmaking. I feel much more connected to my costumes which means I feel much more connected to the whole experience and I like that. I also love having phenomenal costumers Make my costumes because I wear them with so much pride, but thereβs something special about knowing all of the ins and outs of my costume Because Iβve put everything together myself. Iβve definitely arrived at a point in my life where Iβve learned how to become Comfortably Numb with my TN diagnosis and feel like this beginning song is definitely about my life struggle with pain and the second song βEye in the skyβ by Alan Parsons Project is about me being able to trust myself. I need to stop taking everybody elseβs word for it and trust my gut, trust myself. so I feel like this is a good combination for where Iβm at in life right now learning to find comfort even if at times that comfort is numbness and learning to trust my own voice, my own thoughts, my own sensations and know that theyβre not gonna be like everybody elseβs and thatβs OK.
