April 2024 Update

Hello everyone!

I very much thought I would have the video done by now, or at least have the script ready. I regret to inform you that I do not... Because this has become my biggest project yet.

I'm currently polishing up the first draft to create the final draft and begin filming. The first draft stands at 30,435 words. To put that into some perspective, Indian Removal and Christian Science were both 25,000 words. At my usual speaking cadence, this video will be pushing 3 hours.

When I finished researching the Seventh-Day Adventists, I was somewhat underwhelmed. Of all the religions I've covered, this is by far the most tame. They don't believe in alien spirits, Jesus in America, reality not existing, or anything that outside of the box. There are two interesting bits that I've based the video on, but they're mostly quirks of the followers and not the religion.

But I guess part of me realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to explain mainstream American Protestantism. Many denominations in this country don't consider the Adventists to be Christians. Okay, well, what do Adventists believe and what do traditional Protestants believe? Are they really that far off? My conclusion is that they're not, but I suppose you'll have to see the final product to draw your own conclusions.

My current hope/estimate is that this video will be done by the end of April.

I am still doing coworking streams on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, so you can stop by and get things done, see me fiddle with the script, and perhaps play some word games if you like.

I've also released the channel's current music as an album, just like I did four years ago. You can find it on all the usual music places, but here is a link to Spotify and Amazon to get you started.

Peabody is starting to decline pretty rapidly, but both ferrets are still hanging in there.

I’m not sure if you can find it, but the seventh day advents (adventists?) once mass sent out books. I got one when I was in college (so I think 2002 or 2003). The entire book was about how Catholics are all evil and the religion was established by satan. I wish I could find it, but I think it fell into the void where all the left socks go. Have a great day!!

I'm rather fond of the video essay long format, myself. Still, what matters most is that you do your works in a way that is both representative of your style - whatever that may be at the time - and considerate of your own needs as a creator. We are already your fans, KB, and we became your fans by seeing what you wanted to show us, the way you wanted us to. You have an idea to share, and we enjoy those ideas, and how they're presented. My own household's dislike of 'shorts' aside, I firmly believe that is why we are here. So, give us a three hour video. Give us three one hour videos. What matters is that we are seeing it the way that you envisioned, when you made the decision to share it with us, and your life away from the camera does not suffer. Whatever it is, we will enjoy it. Or, if enjoy isn't the right word for a project, we will certainly learn and be grateful for what you've given us. My wife and I look forward to it.

As a Plastic Fork supporter, I second this.

Chapters. Three hours for a single documentary video is quite challenging. Make chapters. You have zero reason to take my advice, but as a viewer: please, chapters.
